Luke James is utter w**k and I would genuinely have considered not renewing my ST if I'd thought we were signing him. Personally think this thread is bollocks, because if we do sign him we may as well write the season off. Even if DC also signed Diego Costa and Harry Kane ? If LJames was the sole striker it would be a concern. IF and it is just an internet rumour IF he signs it will be as cover/replacement for Billy Bodin on the right. DC will sign two NEW strikers...so don't panic.

We don't have room in the budget for passengers. It would be a complete waste of money.

Perhaps we're stuck with having to sign him based on his appearances as part as last summer's deal with Posh, as I can't believe DC would offer him a contract based on his ability, if so, the 82'ers did us over x2 when they signed the snake!
If he does sign at least we'll know he'll always give 100%. He would be an ideal replacement for BB if we're forced to sell him this summer

If this is true and like LJG I sensed it would happen because of DCs ego, had I known sooner I would not have renewed our season tickets ....we pay to be entertained, we travel length and breadth of the country to watch a headless chicken run around. No one else will touch him ....it's an absolute disgrace and complete slap in the face for the fans. Three goals in three seasons none in 30 games for us and we resign him .... utter bollocks and the real indicator of our inability as a club to sign better ... Top six budget and he seemingly hasn't a clue how to spend it !!
Absolutely fuming and that's before we see Billy and Leds walking out the door possibly .... Wait all that time for a signing, "top six budget , making a move this season "and we get this .

Giving 100% should be a given, I think we should be aiming for a better quality player this summer.

..possibly. In the interview with him when he signed, the person questioning him said there was an option to buy him after the loan, which, I'm guessing would be a cut price than if anyone else wanted him. So surely a take it or leave it. With reports that we've signed him and the owner confirming that a bid has been accepted for him, & now its down to personal terms, surely it's us? He was spotted in Bristol yesterday, too..He was probably spotted in Bristol because he lives in Bristol. It will be disappointing if DC feels fit to sign him IMO. If Ellis decides to stay that shows three strikers that couldn't score more than 15 league goals between them last season taking us forward into next season - very worrying and not a sign of intent to me. Goals win matches!!! I can't believe he will have three players on the books that are frankly not good enough at this level to start matches, unless he believes EH is not resigning and LJ & RG are effectively bench warmers. All 'ifs & buts' but still concerning at the lack of movement into the club. Signing him just because he's available and the Manager knows him & likes him (as a person) is not a reason to sign him as a player.

If DC signs James we have to hope and pray he's right and that, miracle upon miracle, the lad turns into a goal machine, or we're screw*d. Maybe he is going to sign him to play where he did for Hartlepool as a right winger which begs the question where is Bodin off to.my money is on a deal with Ollie that involves lumley

If James signs, it's sure to be announced at the same time or just after, we sign a main striker, in my opinion.
But, I also don't think it would be the worst bit of business for us. He'll be on a relatively low wage, he works his knackers off and he is not a bad footballer. If the pressure isn't on him to be our main goal scorer then he might contribute well.

True, perhaps not ideal, but at least a replacement who knows the club already.

Just my opinion but he is lightweight, goal shy, and our worst striker last season. He may work hard but there is little end product,as always hope i'm wrong but don't i rate him at all.
