Roll on Wednesday, away trips to plan etc.... Yes good shout mate! Something proper to talk about instead of the prolific Luke Skywalker.

Didn't make any mistakes though, did he? Not scoring is not a mistake, before you lot say it is. What are the generally accepted requirements of a striker? How many did James meet? How many did Harrison miss?

Re signing James !!! What a depressing prospect.Anyway, just phoned Privelidge Insurance which it seems is a Bristol firm. She had a broad Bristolian accent and when I asked what discount I'd get for being a Gashead who travels to most games, she found it hilarious.Anway my quote has been revised downwards so Iv'e suggested she adds the question to future quotes.

What are the generally accepted requirements of a striker? How many did James meet? How many did Harrison miss? 8 less than James. James didn't miss many because he very rarely even looked like scoring to actually miss chances.

If we are going to have 4 or 5 strikers I think James would still be a good option, as long as he is cheap. He obviously did not score last year but he did hit the woodwork and had 1 or 2 cleared off the line ( I think ) , he is not all bad, he just needs to ' man up ' and get hurt a little and not in a way a little monkey chap might like !

There were a whole load of novel ideas for new rules of the game being banded about the other day, but, as far as I recall, getting a goal for hitting the woodwork wasn't one of them.

His lack of goalscoring aside I thought he was a pretty well liked player because he worked his socks off and wasn't dreadful on the ball. I understand that strikers are judged on scoring goals and I can't dispute that but I think the lad was very unlucky. As has been said previously, he hit the woodwork a couple of times, had it cleared off the line and all sorts. I've never seen a penalty taken like that (as in smashed straight down the middle) and saved before. It just wouldn't go in for the lad and I think that is as much down to bad luck as much as anything else.
I can't see him going from not scoring at all to scoring 20+ goals next season. But if he is cheap (cheap wages and no transfer fee), then I would be more than happy if we signed him. Probably a bit underwhelming if he's supposed to be leading the line, but I have faith in him to chip in with 8 to 10 goals as a squad player, playing backup to the main man.
So it's a yes from me, but only if its as a cheap option squad player. UTG!

It's probably not 8 less than james... more like 40+ more and still only managed 8 goals... when considering the amount of game time Harrison has been given since he's been a first team regular.

Very true, I am really pleased that I did not suggest that it does.

When was he a first team regular? Was that at the same time as when James got a 4 month run in the team? I certainly don't recall Ellis ever starting that number of games or playing that many times consistently.

Ellis is too up and down.

At least Ellis is "up" 1 game in 4, LJ is just never looks like scoring, posters say LJ works his socks off but so does Sincs but that doesn't make him a potential striker.
If our strike force is going to be RG, EH, LJ plus AN Other I do wonder whether we really are aiming for a top 6 spot.

Ellis was in the starting 11 25 times last season (and it looks like 12 from the bench) according to www.transfermarkt.co.ukLuke started 10 (14 from bench) so you could call Ellis a first team regular.. as in he's regularly in the first team. and you are correct... Ellis has never played consistently, hence the reason I'm not bothered if he leaves

James was abysmal at Vale,Walsall and Coventry. Yeah okay but apart from that he was alright, at least he made up for it with his goal tally.

I genuinely can't understand this hope above hope with strikers who can't score. We tried it before and got relegated to the conference.

To be fair to EH his goals hoped us regain promotion, although I can't see him signing his new contract now, or if he does it's because he can't get a better offer elsewhere.
