Thoughts on Shayne Lavery from Linfield? 20 years old and impressed in the Europa League for the Northern Irish side, just missed out on a call up too. Another couple of players over there that have been catching the eye are 17-year-old John McGovern at Newry City in their Championship and 19-year-old Paul O'Neill at Glentoran in their Premiership. McGovern has been called up to the Northern Ireland U19s and O'Neill to the U21s this month. O'Neill: Continuing to catch the eye.

Would be scouting 22-year-old former Netherlands U15, U16, U17, U18, U19 and U20 winger Vince Gino Dekker if possible with a view to the summer.

The 18-year-old Jersey player Sol Solomon is one to keep an eye on. He plays for St Peter FC (3 goals in 2 apps) on the island and also Jersey Bulls (5 goals from 8 starts) who now compete in the English pyramid in the Combined Counties League Div One. He can play on the wing or upfront and apparently spent some time at Millwall during the summer. jerseyeveningpost.com/sport/football/2019/11/04/solomon-leads-way-for-bulls/I know it's a low level, but he seems to have some ability. Worth a trial. 13th goal from 12 starts.

A player I hope we're keeping tabs on is the youngster George Membrillera at Dorking Wanderers. Previously on the books of both Millwall and Coventry City so Widdrington should be aware of him. Can play as a central striker or in a wider role.
He was Dorking Wanderers reserves and academy top goalscorer in 2018/19 and so far this season he has scored 30 odd goals, including 16 goals from 12 starts in the National League U19 Alliance and 11 goals from 18 starts for the Reserves in the Combined Counties League Div One.
He also scored goals for the U18s to help them into the 1st Round of the FA Youth Cup for the first time in their history and recently came off the bench to make his competitive first team debut against Stockport County.
Goals 14 and 16

Daniel Sturridge is a free agent. Short term deal to the end of the season? Get it done, Wael!

Daniel Sturridge is a free agent. Short term deal to the end of the season? Get it done, Wael! No chance. He wouldn't even consider joining us and would not be available to join a club in Europe until the summer anyway. Linked with the likes of Aston Villa and Rangers.

I was reading an article in the Post about non-league players that we could possibly target, so I thought I would suggest my 'ones to watch'.
Callum Roberts (Notts County). The 23-year-old scored 20 goals and got numerous assists last season from the wing for a combination of Blyth Spartans and Notts County. The former England youth international is possibly the most naturally talented player outside the football league.
Ben Goodliffe (Sutton United). The 20-year-old 6ft 2in former Wolves centre back had an eye catching season in defence with his no-nonsense displays. Good in the air and comfortable in possession.
Reiss McNally (Guiseley). The 6ft 2in 19-year-old had an impressive season at right back and centre back and caught the eye of Paul Fairclough to be called up to the England C standby list before the season was ended early.
Theo Richardson (Cleethorpes). The 21-year-old goalkeeper has previously been on the books of Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Manchester United. Great agility, reflexes, shot stopping and distribution.
Deese Kasinga (Tower Hamlets). The 19-year-old winger has pace and skill in abundance who playing far below his natural level. Previously on the books of Brentford and Newcastle United, during his time in the North East he was identified by the Guardian as as one of the 20 best talents under the age of 18 in the country.
Tyger Smalls (Saffron Walden). Exciting 17-year-old winger or striker who was once on the books of Tottenham Hotspur. After scoring a number of eye catching goals during 19/20 he was subsequently offered the chance to train with Arsenal.
Joe Tomlinson (Hungerford Town). The two footed 19-year-old former Yeovil Town and Brighton youth player put in numerous MOTM displays and was named in the National League South Team of the Week on several occasions. Captained his side during the second half of the season. Versatile player but primarily a left back.
Finlay Barnes (Norwich United). The left footed 19-year-old former Norwich City youth team attacking midfielder had an impressive season and was named the Thurlow Nunn League Fans' Player of the Season and the Norwich United Players Player of the Season.

Jordon Rossiter from Rangers and Danny Rowe from Ipswich are two interesting ones for me.

Jordon Rossiter from Rangers and Danny Rowe from Ipswich are two interesting ones for me. Rossiter is an outstanding player, but he just can't stay fit for any length of time. If he did manage to stay fit then he would possibly be playing at the top level. His local press are reporting that centre back Morgan Feeney is to be released by Everton this summer. U23s captain. Promising defender with plenty of potential. Played for England at youth level and captained them on occasions. If we could tempt him to this level would be a real coup. I suspect he will have interest from Championship clubs and maybe even Prem U23s. www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/01/16/everton-coach-david-unsworth-raves-about-teenager-morgan-feeney/Former Scotland youth international Theo Archibald caught my eye last season and is now on a free. And I'm hearing that Fraser Preston could be released by Sheffield Wednesday, although nothing confirmed yet. Also Tyler Hamilton would be worth a trial after his release from Hull in January.

Good to see you back pirate. I trust you are well. Good list, you’ve always liked Bradley Fewster, he’s obviously still floating around without anyone having taken a risk. You think he’s still worth it? The Slew lad from Maldon, is he the same one who was at Cambridge for a year or so? It’s a good list but I wouldn’t expect us to be taking anyone on in either the development squad or first team until the way forward is carefully set out and clearly signposted. I’m still not sure if this whole situation with the idea of salary caps floating about will work against these young players or work on their favour. It’s a very uncertain time for football. UTG!

I like Fewster and still think he's young and good enough to make an impact at a higher level. You only have to look at his record for the England youth sides to see he can score against some of the better players in his age group. I think he fell out of love with the game a bit after leaving Middlesbrough, but he seems to be regaining his mojo a bit and scored 11 goals 12 starts before the season abruptly ended. Definitely one to monitor and worth a closer look in pre-season IMHO. That Slew from Maldon is the Cambridge one's (Jordan) younger brother. At one point during his time in the academy at Sheffield United Jorome was thought to be a better prospect than his brother and was a prolific goalscorer in the youth ranks, but sadly suffered s bad injury which rather halted his progress at the time. Back fully fit now and still only 22, he scored 32 goals in 32 starts this season including the wonder goal in the FA Cup vs Leyton Orient.

That's an extensive knowledge of non league football. I reckon there would be a role for you as chief scout!!! Some of our best players over the years have come from non league like dave Pritchard, Steve Foster, Barry hayles, matty Taylor, Tony pounder and Gary Penrice. The lad from torquay - Reid (a striker) was mentioned recently. Don't know how good he is or could be.. We were linked with a non league keeper last summer called Jay somebody, don't know what happened to him and a young midfielder the summer before called kurtis cumberbatch who as far as I know, is still drifting around the non league. I'd always rather we signed good conference or conference north or south players rather than players from championship or PL u23 teams who sometimes think that our level is beneath them.
