If there's any logic I hope that the start of next week will see players starting to come in. I would imagine that there have been ongoing talks with players that clubs hope to retain but the players want away at the end of their contracts and are unable to do so until their contacts expire at midnight tonight - at least I hope that's the situation. If we haven't at least three quality new players for the critical positions we need signed up by the end of next week then I will start doubting our ability to attract players - and it might just not be all about money!!

Unfortunately there wasn't a 'when we get an offer rejected for Luke James' option. Otherwise I think that could've been the winner

I must admit I'm getting a bit twitchy as, given the desire to sign 10+ players according to DC, we're only a couple of days away from July and have signed just one player - and actually had 1 leave!
However, we could sign 5+ players next week for all we know. As such, despite getting a bit nervous, I know there's still plenty of time left yet.
On top of that, DC usually operates this way and it's worked out OK in the past - I think we need to try and stay calm for another few weeks - if there's not been any movement in come then it would probably be fair enough to all have a meltdown!

So a mild panic is setting in.... What we dont know for sure is how many players DC and co have already agreed deals with and are waiting for contracts to expire and then announce. What needs to be remembered is that, as much as we crave signings to boost our supporters/season ticket sales etc, selling clubs will not want to release too much info in case it effects season ticket sales etcin a negative way. So there is probabl;y a good deal of faffing going on behind closed doors whilst selling clubs are lining up replacements for the players they have sold.....

You can announce deals before contracts expire.

It would be more pro-active of the club to announce before July 1 as season ticket holders have until tomorrow to keep their seats. and as others have said you do the announcing before the contract starts on July 1.

You think season ticket holders decide whether to renew depending on how many signings we make before cut off date?

You can announce deals before contracts expire. Yes. However, part of the deal might be that any announcement is held until the selling club has confirmed its replacement.... It's all about managing the supporters expectations.

You think season ticket holders decide whether to renew depending on how many signings we make before cut off date? There is much more politics in a transfer deal than just this. You need to conduct yourself in a professional maner. If the club losing the player has requested that we keep stum until a certin point and the player is worth it, you do it... You never know when you will be dealing with eachother again. The first of July deadline is total separate from this - with limited seat numbers, the club has people over a barrel.

There's no real need to panic imo. I imagine we'll see 3-4 loan signings come in quite late in the day anyway which reduces this figure of 10 somewhat.
We have decent competition in defence and midfield already and 2 first team wingers. People acting like we have bare bones are being a little OTT.
We need a goalkeeper ASAP, agreed and we need a striker through the door ASAP too.
I can see why people might be getting twitchy but at the end of the day, DC is negotiating, we know that. I wouldn't be surprised to see a GK and striker come in next week as a minimum, 3-4 more players come in over the next month or so and then the final few loan signings to fill in the gaps at towards the start of the season. Surely nobody expected us to sign 10 players by mid July?

If we don't get at least one goalie in next week then the start of the preseason friendlies could be fun!

We have decent competition in defence and midfield already and 2 first team wingers. The defence conceded 70 goals last season, more than relegated Swindon and Coventry and the same amount as relegated Port Vale. Byron Moore created a grand total of 2 assists.

You think season ticket holders decide whether to renew depending on how many signings we make before cut off date? Some will according to the shop !? They must have had some feedback from old punters !?

With training starting next week in an ideal world most teams have made the majority of their signings unless they have very few to make. This gives the team plenty of time to gel. I really did expect that we would make as many as five or six signings this week with the other 4 or 5 being spread out from next week until the deadline closes. I fear at the moment that this will be like last summer which in terms of signings was pretty well a disaster with very few of them making a success and it was certainly a case of DC's Managing ability being far better than his signings. He does not have the luxury of making so many mistakes this time around especially as so many key positions are required.
Many will say that we are not far behind most teams in the division in terms of signings but I would be surprised if many teams are expected to make five signings let alone 10 or 11.

How can you call last season a FLOP? Rovers best finish for 17 years hardly a flop we were favorites for the drop last season
