Rotherham making a statement with some of their signings and people muted as joining with Charlton not far behind .Blackburn has signed a talismanic striker early and Bury have gone mad in a Supermarket sweep type way but again it's been noticed all around the League. I'm sensing this is going to be a really tough League to get out of this season .... the right way anyway.
Meanwhile back at the Mem .....We can only hope that things are progressing positively.

I agree, it will be much tougher this season than last.
Last season was a golden opportunity to get promotion but didn't because ultimately we wouldn't pay over-the-odds for a striker, yet a few months later we pay (imo) over-the-odds for a midfielder.
I have said before we will need to improve to even attain the same league position this season, anything above that will be a really big achievement.

Sercombe was signed for an undisclosed fee? I know there are rumours but dont forget oxford want people to think they got a great deal so i very much doubt it was 150k.

Yeah maybe, maybe not. Too many people are quoting £150k and no other figure is being mentioned so you would think it was in the right ball park.
I do think he is a good player but I wouldn't have spent that much on him.

£150K could be just a small transfer plus paying off the remaining year or two of his Oxford contract, I can't really see us paying a £150K transfer fee plus a 2 years contract for a CM unless we're really going to be splashing the cash this summer and there's no sign of that so far. As far as paying over the odds for a striker given that Miller joined Posh as soon as the season ended I don't he had any real interest in joining us in January.

I read an article somewhere that glasgow rangers were ready to meet the 100k that oxford wanted which made me wonder if the 150k was a bit high? I think i like sercombe a bit more than you so it will be interesting to see how well he does.

Hibs were rumoured to be preparing a 100k bid, if that's what you mean? www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/hibs-boss-neil-lennon-close-10505442.amp

I also read something about rangers but the article said that windass and another lower league player had been so poor for them that their fans would not be happy. But thanks for the hibs link.
