I don't suppose anyone wI'll know the answer to this but I'll ask anyway, am I right in thinking he signed a 2 year deal last season just after Leeds came in for him and if he did does this mean he now has a six year contract? This is a new contract that would supersede whatever he had in place before rather than a contract extension so I imagine it is 5 years, regardless of what he had before.
Great news either way.
Part of Wael's long term plan you think? Stablise with a Manager we love and can actually put a winning, fighting, ambitious and hungry team together, whilst putting a state of the art training facility in place to not only improve the first team but give the best to the youth squad so we can bring them through the ranks and meanwhile, in the background, dealing us a new Stadium? All looking good as far as I'm concerned.

Welcome back Bags, I've missed you! :like a fart in a space suit lol!: Cheers. Left this section alone after being told I ruin threads but thought I'd chip in seeing as it's great news about DC signing. Have you not been reading Gaschat lately? We are capable of ruining threads without you.

It would seem that DC wouldn't sign a five year deal (as it may put other clubs off making him offers)unless he could see the club moving forward constantly over that time.
top six budget new training camp new academy large backroom staff DC five year deal
All points to a new stadium happening in the next three years...be that at UWE or elsewhere.

When you put it like that it is amazing how many people still manage to find so many negatives!!!

Ahem! I would like to congratulate Wael and the B of D for finally accepting my oft - repeated advice to get DC tied down to a 5 year contract. Proof, if any were needed, that the club heirachy read this forum!
I am sure that one of the main factors which swayed Darrell was the absolute assurance the stadium is going to happen, probably imminently. Without that there is no way the club would be able to match his ambitions.
Exciting times ahead. Now, Wael, get the f#cking stadium built !

So after we win promotion this season and the season after , consolidate in the Prem for a yr then make top four the next season. That means we could be in a situation of going into a champions league final with a manager with only a few months left on his contract. Worrying times.

I can claim credit for this.
I spoke to him a while back and he said he wanted to leave, but then I did a book named after him & he decided he wanted to stay.

This is great news and after this news makes the rumor I heard the other day far more credible he did mention the DC was signing a new contract so with out looking a dick now I don't mind saying who the 2 players in question are. QPR have excepted an offer for Joe Lumley apparently its just down to personal terms Stevenage have accepted an offer for Matt Godden again down to personal terms Like I said in post both signing would make gas heads happy I just hope what I've heard is true after all it's still only rumor until its set in stone UTG

Great news, thank you all involved. Just one piece of the jigsaw left to fit and after this news it certainly feels like it's happening. The only way is up - Yazz
