Marcus has worked with him in the past, so will know him better than the experts on here, who are saying we can do better. Still only 23, a similar age to Taylor was when we signed him and he has had a lot more success than Taylor did before we signed him. Experience at this level and is at the right age to be developed. Can do a lot worse as one of our options. Spot on. 10 goals last year at this level is not bad for a 23 year old who should only get better. If DC and MS can work their magic and make him reach his potential, he could be an excellent signing.

If so, it shows they must rate him (as a number of their other strikers have been).

Also DC said in his interview that you usually have to find someone that hasn't hit 20 goals a season yet but can turn into one. 10 goals last season, 20 this?

Hence the reason strikers Lee Angol, Jordan Nicholson and Luke James (probably also because he's been a failure) were listed, plus the same for the likes of Maddison and Bostwick.

Indeed - but I'd hazard a guess some of them may have been transfer listed anyway (or offered new contracts to keep them; if they really wanted them to say you'd assume they'd have got them on a new contract) But totally appreciate your point. In fairness though, they don't seem short of striking options; so the fact they want to keep him would suggest they do rate him.

They didn't "work their magic" on Luke James to reach his potential - another Peterborough player!!! Didn't Posh pay £500k for LJ - they buy and sell players as part of their culture and put them up for sale in the last season of their contract. IF they paid £250k + add ons for Nichols they are going to want to recoup most of this I'm sure - Nichols is not yet into the last season of his contract so was not put up for sale (yet) - but every player has his price.

Lee Angol was a 21-year-old who scored 11 League One goals in a lot less games (33) and they soon got rid of him.

To be fair, Luke James also had much more success than the snake at a younger age, Marcus Stewart had all last season working with him and he still didn't improve.

2016/17 (league only)
Nichols: 43 appearances, 10 goals League 1
Ellis: 37 appearances, 8 goals League 1
2015/16
Nichols: 23 appearances, 10 goals League 2, 7 appearances, 1 goal League 1
Ellis: 32 appearances, 7 goals League 2
2014/15
Nichols: 36 appearances, 15 goals League 2
Ellis: 37 appearances, 14 goals Conference
Goals per minute would probably be even closer, but Nichols' stats are only marginally better than Ellis. They are the same age, yet the consensus seems to be that one we should pay a pretty hefty fee for the other one we should ship out as quickly as possible?
We have to realise that like him or not, Ellis is a player who has potential value and apart from anything else, that's why I hope he signs a new contract.
This is in no way bashing Nichols, by the way. Apparently there is more to his game than goals, and 6 assists last year show this. Ellis had 4 by the way. BBC stats show that in all games last season Ellis and Nichols shared the exact same minutes per goal figure - a goal every 265 minutes.

Don't really like the way the Posh owner is conducting himself to be honest; surely these things should be private?
If I was WAQ/Hamer/DC I'd be a bit p*ssed of tbh.

I'd be happy with Nichols so a bit disappointing that they've rejected. On the other hand, I'm happy if it means we aren't stuck with James for another year!

Luke James must have graphic videos of DC.
Think Nichols would be a good signing.

This cannot be serious. If Luke James is part of a double package it beggars belief frankly. If this comes off, that's three strikers we will have on our books that will not take us anywhere near a top six position next season. DC IMO is putting his head on the block if LJ, EH & RG are three of our main strike force next season - this is not good enough.

Can't be true about Luke James surely? My mother in Law offers more goal threat and she died 5 years ago!
