plus the assists' he could provide possibly the most skillful player ever in a Rovers shirt Would come a poor third behind Devon White and Christian McClean

A 36 year old Mark Walters nearly got us promoted out of this league playing as a wing back. He lacked pace but his quality on the ball with set pieces made up for it. Could be the same with Lambo. Good footballing brain, good at set pieces. I would say good at pens too, but we all know they don't count....Would do more than a good job at this level. Get players to drive into the box and draw fouls from defenders, RL converts the pens. Promotion assured!

Would be worth the wages as it'd put another thousand on the gates as well! Would love a Sir Ricky return.

Think is we need a poacher not a centre forward. We already have Ellis and Gaffney. I would like him back but feel we would be better off spending the budget elsewhere. Assuming he's still reasonably fit then who else are we going to sign who's capable of scoring 20+ goals in Div 1 this season for a reasonable fee/wages?    Although if we're looking to sign two strikers from P'boro then there seems little chance of DC being interested in signing RL. How do you know he will score 20+ goals and how do you know we can get him on a reasonable wage? If we sign him as well as Ellis and Gaffney then it is really limiting their chances. We don't need all 3. I'd like him but only if we could get him for fairly cheap.

I did say reasonably fit and capable of scoring 20+ goals, it's for DC to decide if he's still capable as he does seem to have hit the buffers lately but Bury clearly think Beckford can do it at this level. I can't see he needs to be cheap just within our budget, who'd you take given the choice Ricky Miller or Rickie Lambert for the same wages next season?

I would rather have lambert on his own up front than 2 of what we have at the moment although I do like gaffers

Well I wouldn't class any of them as your off the shoulder type striker that DC likes.

People are acting as if he'd come. Imo he could easily do a job in the championship.
Cardiff want rid of wages, not his talent.

No for me. Not now. I want to remember Lambert as he was and he's not that player anymore.
Just 8 goals in his last 81 appearances for 3 clubs over the past 3 years albeit in the Premier and Championship.
I don't believe he'd be a success at Rovers this time, in fact I think he'd be a costly mistake.

But does he genuinely believe RG & EH are good enough to be a top 6 centre forward for strikers to play off either of them?

I would love to see him back here, he would still be a very good player in league 1 and score goals in my opinion. Free kicks and especially penalties, also a good header of the ball something we seem to be lacking at set pieces. I'm not sure what's happened with our penalty taking situation since the snake left? Considering we scored something like 23 or 24 on the bounce, it all seems a bit strange now. Who is our penalty taker, Bodin, Harrison, Brown, James ( Joke ) even lines who knows? Strange having such a good penalty record as every time the Snake took a pen I was crapping myself he never gave me confidence in that department and was lucky to score on several occasions including the big one at Wembley against the fishy. So it's a big yes from me but in DC we trust UTG!

It's just not realistic though and we couldn't afford his wages. Think John Parkin and increase that ability by a few.
