Liam Sercombe looks like a nice addition, but how many more do we really need?
I think:
2/3x goalkeepers
2x Full backs
2x Centre backs
1x Central Midfielder (Our midfielders are great especially with Sercombe coming in, but I think we need a bit of youth in there too)
1x Right Mid/Right Wing
2x Left Mids/Left Wingers
2x Strikers (3x if Luke James is one of them)
Therefore, I'm saying 12/13.
How about you?

We would have a fully functional squad with:
2 goalkeepers
1 left back
1 centre back
1 left midfield
2 strikers
Ideally we might have another midfield option and possibly one more striker, but I think we'd be ok with the 7 above, with faith in a couple of our first year pros to make the bench if necessary.

11 players? You can't expect to make any progress with 11 new players in the squad surely? Well the fact that DC has already stated that at least 10 new players is his requirement, then yes. We haven't got any goalkeepers. Tom Lockyer is our only real recognised central defender with experience under his belt. Lee Brown's our only option at Left Back. Even with Sercombe signed it only leaves us with 4 Central Midfielders and Sercombe is the only one with a goal threat. We haven't got any cover for Billy Bodin. Byron Moore is the only other wide player with experience in our squad. And we've only got 2 strikers in Ellis and Gaffney. So taking that into account I would expect: At least 2 Goalkeepers. 2 centre backs. 2 Central Midfielders. 2 Wide players. 2 Strikers. To make our squad competitive and a squad to at least get us in the top 6. |

Well the Boss said he wants 10 new players but i expect about 5 or 6 will be signed on so i will go for a Goalkeeper, center back, defensive Midfield, left Winger, 2 strikers

Looking thru the team sheet IMO this is what is needed.
First team squad 6 players
U23ths 6 players
First team
Goalkeepers.
As there are 2 games next Saturday with only U18 Liam Armstrong on the books, a must is 2 first choice keepers. Lumley would be nice but a good permanent keeper would be better
Full Backs
With 6 on the books we are ok. Brown Leadbitter, Burn, Partington, Clarke and Kilgour
Central Defenders.
Only Lockyer and Clarke as emergency cover means at least 2 first choice players needed.
Defensive Midfield
Clarke, Sinclair, Mansell as cover perhaps 1 is needed especially if better than we already have.
Attacking Midfield.
Lines, Sercombe, Bodin, Moore, Broom all look good to me.
Strikers
Harrison and Gaffney need some help so unless Bodin is moved forward then 1 or 2 more needed.
To summarise a must is 2 keepers, 2 central defenders and a striker.
The U23 seem only to have 9 players so to make a team expect additional youngsters to be signed and hopefully come good sooner rather than later.
Perhaps we could sign Sweeney and Clarke-Salter to make up numbers!!!

So the panic over gelling has finally arisen...the age old excuse churned out by teams for years.
ok
1-4-3-3 formation
keeper=yet to sign
full backs= Brown ,Leadbitter
centrebacks= Lockyer, Burn
midfield = Lines ,Clarke ,Sercombe
attack = Bodin , Gaffney , Harrison
Bench= J.Clarke ,Sinclair ,Moore ,Mildenhall, Partington , Mansell ,development player.
apart from a first choice keeper there is a more than adequate first team already.
So 10 new signings don't need to be thrown straight into the starting line up..just one or two to start with

Can't we get to stsrt if season with all angles covered. Beginning the season with with less than the target of 10 signing is a bit of a failure for me and we will be at a disadvantage. |

I think only Sercombe is part of DC's first team budget. The other two are to help create a competing u23 (?) team ,the idea these players and others will be the future Rovers first team core. The Chris Hargreaves squad have their own budget no doubt. |
