These two will help the gas to the promised land of the championship Smith, I think, will be No. 1. He looks long-term, unlike Slocombe. Why is Slocombe not long-term? Odd comment, 29 is just coming into your peak as a goalkeeper, so this isn't necessarily the case. Although I agree that Smith looks a more likely no 1.

Cant see Slocombe getting a run of games unless Smithy's a flop.

Fair point. Guess DC might at least try and rotate in the cups etc.

Pure guesswork by you though. Heres a bit of guesswork by me,they have both been attracted by 2 year deals better salary than they were on at there last clubs and told they will both start as equals and have to fight for there place in the team.

Was Smith given a FREE or did he turn down a new contract? Not sure actually. Northampton never announced anything.. Since July 1 is when the contracts end, he probably joined on a free. Sercombe was a free agent too I think.

More stupid championship manager comments about who will start as no 1, they will both get plenty of opportunities in preseason and training and DC with play the one who shows up the best. What will be interesting is as and when DC opts to swap and drop.

Of course, there is a silver lining if (as it looks like now) we dont get Lumley: Bodin doesnt go the other way as part of a deal.

We have to forget JL now. These aren't loans they belong to us. Are they the first proper goalies we've signed permanently since Mildenhall in 2012? GIf so that is a very strange stat. After all the c*** posted on here over the past few weeks to get a problem position for a few years sorted in first week of July is very good business. Let's hope we see a few more common sense postings until it all kicks off on Aug 5. UTG!

2 keepers in one hit very nice! I bet Milldenhall is watered off as he will have to get off his arse and do some work now lol.

Adam Smith, 24, 6ft 4in, 33 clean sheets in 109 career appearances. Named as the best goalkeeper in the Football League and in the 15/16 PFA League 2 Team of the Season after keeping 15 clean sheets. He must be good, he kept out Ellis lol
