Not quite the middle of July when I start the thread but not far out.
Would be interested to know How People are feeling about our recruitment so far. Whilst being pleased with Sercombe and Ok with our two keepers I am seriously concerned with only three of the so say ten planned signings for the summer.
I fully expect three loanees but where on earth are the strikers ? Surely they were priorities on the target list that D.C. Handed Hamer .... I'm really worried that Hamer has struck out here and we are now looking at the leftovers in a fast dwindling marketplace. At what point will we be told how good they feel Gaffney looks and maybe we don't need a striker after all ... I dread that!
Are the trialists an addition to the first line of targets ... or a desperate attempt to find something or someone who everyone else has missed ? We seem very very slow here but I am biased as this is my team and others might be similar and I haven't really got to grips with them.
I now am starting to disbelieve we have the top budget that was voiced so loudly and still await the promise of the ' exciting ' signings that Mr Hamer waxed lyrical about a few weeks ago.
This is absolutely not meant to be a rant or a moan ... and it doesn't help logging on every few hours desperate to see news of a signing or two ....I am though really concerned and maybe sense we have been over promised here. Genuinely would like to get a vibe for what you guys are thinking ... Are you comfy that it's all under control or slightly apprehensive that we are only now a few weeks away from the start of a new season and remain desperately short of top six quality.

Happy.
Whilst we haven't perhaps signed as many as I'd hoped for. We kept everyone I wanted and have expanded our coaching staff correctly.
A decent CB signing and DM would give me extra confidence.
Believe our forward options are good.
I believe in both Gaffers and Harrison.
Clarke was scoring before injury ended his season.
We know Bodins will get goals.
A couple different options and we'll be ok.

Feeling confident that DC has it under control, last week we never had a keeper now we have two permanents who are both decent and some young trialists, if sonny Bradley comes in at centre half, need a defensive midfielder two wingers and a striker. See Tom Nicholls played for the posh second half at the weekend, in their friendly with St Albans. Can't see us signing Rickie Lambert and in some ways would rather remember him as he was in his prime. Steve Hamer said there were some exciting names on Darrells list, so are they coming? Craig Noone would be a great signing. I would like us to get our business done pronto but we never seem to, with a few more additions think we will be in with a good chance of top six.

I've got every confidence in everyone at the club in regards to our transfer dealings. We have recently made 3 excellent signings with more on the way. I really don't understand the panic on here , we have been told countless times by DC where he feels we need to strengthen and I have no reason to believe that he won't be true to his word, after all it's not like he's led us to back to back promotions is it so why should we trust him ?

I feel like we havnt been able to sign some of our main targets because the asking prices have gone up along with salary demands. Some players have 3 or 4 offers and clubs are still waiting for decisions from them[ref aaron pierre on trial at city]. I really hope we dont just bring in 5 young players on 6 month or season long loans and try and get by on that. If we sign a centre-half and a striker with some sort of reputation in the game before match 1 i will feel much more relaxed about things and then a few loans would seem fine.

Would like to think there are a few more coming in this week. 2 strikers would now be a priority, central defender, and I still believe we need a winger.

I was feeling a little concerned until we signed the two keeps last week, I'm very confident that DC has more signings lined up which will be announced soon.
We know he has some money to spend in the window. We know he will want to spend it wisely, he is a very prudent manager IMO. In his recent interview he was even talking about keeping some money in the kitty for January, to me that says he is not panicking and has everything under control. DC will not rush into buying players that do not have the right attitude or work ethic so he is probably doing due diligence on his candidates which takes a little time.
I trust DC to do what is right for the club, after all he has just committed himself to a 5 year contract so he knows that the decisions he makes now will be extremely important to how the next couple of seasons work out.
We already have 3 permanent signings in through the door, 2 GK's & an attacking midfielder. If we get a decent ST, a left midfielder & rock hard CB (i.e. a Sweeney!) as permanent signings that will make 6, that alone would be some seriously good work done in this window. He will then probably add a few loans in too, and we have January to bolster if we need to. Lets not also forget that we have a number of players in the youth ranks who also may be able to step up and there are even a couple of players we signed last season who have yet to be given a real opportunity (Burn & Partington) who may well shine.
So in answer to the original question - How Am I Feeling?........I'm feeling just fine thanks!
UTG!

I think the midfield is fine if all stay injury free, got to get more quality up front and like what's already been said a no nonsense defender

Quite relaxed really. The goalkeeper signings and Sercombe look like good additions and DC has said he is looking to add more quality on the left and up front, plus the CB, DM and LB cover. As for the budget, only DC and the board know what it really is, but we'll all have a better idea when the window shuts. DC seems happy enough with it, he signed his new contract, so that is good enough for me really. Loads of quality players out there we could sign so ask me again at the end of the transfer window.

I think we've made a few solid signings in Sercombe and the 2 keepers, but I seem to recall DC making a comment along the lines of us needing to sign players of a different calibre if we're to make progress to the next level a month or two ago. As I said, they look like solid signings, but are they a whole new calibre of player? I'm not quite at panic stations yet, but it'll be interesting to see what our squad looks like when the transfer window slams shut. Is the budget not really there? Are we being beaten to our no.1 targets? Are we just impatient and the season loans from Arsenal/Chelsea are on their way?!!

Fully agree with the OP. I'm not overly excited for the new season to be honest.
I've started to take anything Steve Hamer says with a pinch of salt I'm afraid. Shame, really.
