I like the sound of this signing for 2 main reasons. 1) All Notts County fans seem to rste him highly. 2) We have never had another option at LB. This guy sounds quick so completely different to Lee Brown and I'm sure DC will find a few projects to use him in. We now look very balanced in the FB positions. Oh there is a 3rd I guess too, someone has got to come up with a chant to The Kinks "Lola"! To be fair, it's not that hard! Bola, B-O-L-A Bola, B-O-L-A Bola (na na na na, na na) I would write a verse to it but our fans don't have the patience to learn anything long anyway! This has got to catch on I hope. Simple but unique.

Mark Bola played today against Gloucester and made a solid start. Has pace, tried to get forward and generally looked ok at the back. A decent start.

Here's my opinion, fwiw. I wish the lad well, I really do, but he is brought in as cover. DC has certain undroppable players, and Lee Brown is one of them. Lee Brown is also rarely injured, so chances for the new lad will be sparse. I fully expect Marc Bola to be recalled in January, having hardly kicked a ball for us. I may be wrong - but just my opinion. I think Browner's been largely undroppable because the competition for his place (Harris, Greenslade) really was not competition at all for Mr Consistency, but DC has shown us before that if a loan player is better than what we have permanently signed on the books and proves that with high standard performances in the shirt then they play. Bola has the opportunity but he does have stiff competition from Browner so whoever gets the nod will have to play well to keep possession of the place in the side. Not sure DC has ever dropped one of his favoured first team players for a loanee, the treatment of Roberts being particularly odd given that Leads blew hot and cold at the start of last season. If he isn't prepared to drop Brown hopefully Bola can also play in the left wing role, as having him stuck on the bench until he's then recalled in January will be a waste and probably put Arsenal off loaning is any further players.

He crossed just like cherry cola sounds stupid. That's 'cause it is, doesn't make any sense whatsoever!

He crossed just like cherry cola sounds stupid. As you said earlier, just the chorus was excellent.

Marc Bolan, I thought he was dead? Or, to paraphrase "Not the 9 O'Clock News" - "he's been playing centre forward for Bristol City for 10 years". (Their joke referred to Lord Lucan for those too young to remember decent satire) South Park Daily Mash Newsthump |The onion All are fine modern day sources of satire eclipsing NT9OCN. Plus, 90s had Brass Eye, The Day to Day which I felt were leagues ahead of the 80s low brow rubbish like spitting image. It's out there, it's just not on prime time TV.....

DC likes the option of pace or power in the wing back birth. He used Leads or JC in RB, one has pace, one is solid and strong. Lee Brown is sadly lacking in pace and that leaves us a bit one dimensional on the left. A bit of variety will do us good but LB will always be first pick for me as a fan, as he amongst the greatest living Rovers heroes.

This lad looks like he's going to be much more suited to the wing back position than Brown is. I think they'll be changed up depending on formation I agree. Also- don't believe Roberts quite fitted. DC dropped Taylor a few times. He does not have unstoppables. Brown is just a consistent performer. Since the conference I cannot remember a game - whereby I thought- we lost that because of Browner. Admittedly, Wembley was close. Thought he had a ropey game there. It's good to have cover. And options at LB. You just have to look at the number of crosses that came in from his side that resulted in goals last season to see why we now have a new LB.
