Could well be BS of course.... But I have heard in the last 15 mins that Sweeney is a done deal and will be announced "Very very soon"..... From what I can gather it is a 1 season loan deal with an option to buy... Which would be incredible if true! Blimey how had was he on the recent Swiss tour!

Been following this forum since the lengthy new owners thread and never really got involved but seeing this thread made me excited and hopefully comes true! The fact it could be a season loan with a chance to buy could be the fee Stoke are asking for isn't unreasonable but the club doesn't have the funds with this year's budget and thus securing him next season too. Not too unrealistic and other clubs have done the same in past. Basically giving themselves the chance to save for 12 months to secure someone that we know is tidy and the fans took a shine to.

If Sweeny is indeed with us next season then do not be surprised if both he and Broadbent start games. The manager frequently sets up the side with three central defenders and two attacking wing backs. I think it would be a frightening prospect for opposing attackers to come up against this pair.

I like the sound of that, I like 3 at the back with wing backs. Lockyer, Sweeney and Broadbent sounds like a formidable back line to me.

Where does Bodin fit in to 3 at the back? One of 3 up top perhaps?

Don't forget there's also Burn, Clarke and Partington who I doubt will be happy just to sit on the bench whilst Broadbent plays in a back three. The defensive CM role looks a the leak link to me as it's basically OC and the inexperienced Lewis Hall if DC signs him.

I'd like to see BBB in a more central position sometimes to see if he can score even more.

Bodin could play in the Hazard/Pedro/Willian role. We all know DC likes to mix it up a bit depending on who we play and chops and changes quite a lot.

Incredible indeed considering Sweeney himself says he sees his long term future at Stoke. www.stokecityfc.com/news/sweeneys-long-term-ambitionThe loan is probably as good as we can hope for.
