Maybe for what it's worth a more easier investment lies elsewhere?

Would you want to deal with a vice chancellor who is very economic with the truth on live TV No thanks best thing we ever did was to get rid of this money grabbing charity Forge our own destiny is the best way You probably said that when we left Eastville, decades later we're still playing in a cr@p ground where we can't progress beyond Div 1 level.

What do you suppose is happening? Wael is quite rich and committed to the club. The family is very rich, have little interest in the club other than as a possible investment opportunity. They know people who are very very rich but couldn't give a toss about the club and want cast iron guarantees about any investment. UWE want a stadium but don't want to hand it over lock, stock and barrel. I'm just off now to read 'The Emperor's New Clothes' once more. We`re the Gas. "The ragged trousered philanthropists", would be more appropriate.

No one knows what is really happening behind the scenes except the AQ's including SH. All of this speculation is complete BS and is doing no good for our beloved club.
Leaking that privileged information could have damaged our chances of a better deal, It might not have done!
Who knows bar AQ. It might have even been set up by them!
Demanding answers could be detrimental to our club / chances of striking a last dich deal with UWE in our favour.
I know its S**t but all we can do is wait it out.

I cannot believe most fans on here have voted option 2. It's amazing how far an exotic tan, a cheeky grin and a softly spoken voice will get you.

Yep for the next 10 years, until we get another half assed project dangled in front of us! It's the hope that kills you and yesterday was a dagger to the heart. Never mind footy tomorrow, something to look forward too at last!

Personally I think it's important that the owners get a clear message from those of us who are unhappy with the situation. Most of us have suspected for months this is how it would end-up and it's odd that the decision was made once season ticket sales ended. Get their money and then let them have the bad news?

So you'd rather get a "no" now than a potential "yes" in a month's time just for the sake of being in the know?? As yategas said, we don't know the reason that they are not telling us everything. It may be because if they do tell us the situation, it could be detrimental to the club. Let them get on with their business, if things need to remain confidential, then I believe there's a good reason for that rather than the fact they just can't be bothered to tell us.

You are a trusting soul and I hope your trust is not misplaced. Hamer was pretty clear that Al Qadis are unlike to go back to the table with UWE and his only reasons seems to be they are fed-up with negotiating and a failure to respond to a heads of agreement that no one chased. I feel sorry for Hamer as it was pretty clear from the interview that despite being Chair of the Club he's was clueless about Al Qadis plans.

To be fair though he couldn't turn round 16 hours after we had released a statement saying we had concluded negotiations unsuccessfully and say we were going straight back into those negotiations. If, and I know it's a big if, this is just a negotiating tactic to make it clear that we won't accept a deal at any price, him saying he highly doubts that it will ever happen could be seen as us playing hard ball.

Its nothing to do with being trusting we have no choice in the running of our club, there is no blind faith here. However forcing our owners hand could have implications that would be detrimental to our clubs survival / new stadium. I for one would rather not take that chance.

It's seems strange to me that we have made big investments in the infrastructure and yet there is no ROI without the stadium. It's like spending lots of money planning a holiday but not buying a car to go in!

But that's all the two sides of this argument are isn't it? Whether you trust them or not, whether you're a positive person or not, because none of us really know 100% what the situation is or what the Al-Qadis are really thinking. I'm just a positive Rovers fan who will have faith in the board and remain optimistic about them until they are gone or start asset-stripping the club. My assessment of the situation is that they genuinely are fed up of negotiating because it sounds like it has been going backwards and forwards for months without really moving anywhere so they've said "sod it, I can't be doing this any more". If the UWE come back to them with what we want, then they'll re-enter negotiations but things would have to be sorted pretty quickly now. The statement from the UWE has actually made me more optimistic because I imagine they've been pretty stubborn in the negotiations knowing how desperate we are for the stadium and thought we'd be the ones to blink first and give into their demands. Now that we've told them to do one, they've thought "oh sh**, we're pretty desperate for this too, we might've cocked up here", and therefore they might now be more tempted to move the goalposts a bit. Just what I think is a possiblity.

You probably said that when we left Eastville, decades later we're still playing in a cr@p ground where we can't progress beyond Div 1 level. Unlike when we left Eastville, we have a owner who cares about the club who is willing to put his money into the club Correction Henbury - Not his money, but his families money, and our President doesn't seem to have much say in it. It's time for brutal honesty. Our President was given Bristol Rovers Football Club as a train-set to play with by his bigger Brothers. They control the electricity supply to the train (money). Meanwhile, Wael has added more carriages to the train, making it heavier and therefore using more electricity to move it. The train has got bigger and bigger, and now the Brothers have decided that too much electricity is being used, for what was intended to be a toy. Wael wants to turn the dial on the controller to make the train go faster, but the electric has been switched to just a trickle. The train is in fact slowing down, and will eventually stop. The driver of the train (DC) wants to extend the track. He wants a better engine, better stations. He doesn't want to drive the clapped out train anymore. He wants a brand new Bullet Train. Wael wants him to drive a Bullet Train as well, but without that electricity, the train is going nowhere. After a while, another train company offers a job to the train driver, with a promise of a better train, and he leaves. Wael is left with a clapped out train that is going nowhere, without a driver as well. "Can I have some more electricity?", cries Wael. "I only need just enough to make my old train crawl around the oval track."..."OK", reply the Brothers. "If it's keeps you quiet". I think I've watched too much Thomas the Tank Engine.

I don't want to, but can't help seeing a sort of mirror image of the Sainsbury situation here. They wanted out, having realised that profits were not going to be as great as originally anticipated. They then remained very quiet, whilst keeping up the appearance of interest, but used a deadline date to kill the deal. I think Dwayne Sports may have used a similar tactic. I hope not, and the appointment of additional staff and purchase of the training ground may make those thoughts redundant. Just my own feeling, folks, with no knowledge of the reality of the situation. Perhaps the owners will be kind enough to explain exactly what is happening.

It was their idea, so why would they then drag their heels and make negotiations difficult?

It was their idea, so why would they then drag their heels and make negotiations difficult? Because they want the best deal for themselves, as any business would do. Just because they made the first approach it doesn't mean they weren't in the driving seat in the negotiations. As soon as it was offered to us we seemed pretty desperate to get it done so they could afford to be stubborn and try to get a good deal for themselves. They probably thought we'd eventually just give into them out of desperation, and now that we haven't, the power has changed hands a little bit.

Shouldn't we feel more positive than negative about this? As nottsgasheadal said the balance of power has changed since Nick in our favour so we can say no. So the point now is is this the end or the beginning of a bright new future? Didn't Wael say yesterday they were still in for the long haul or did I dream that?
