How can you say he's not good enough then concede that 80% of the balls played to him were long high balls? He jumped and challenged every ball played up to him. What else could he have done differently? Won more. Gafney did more in his first 5 mins than Ellis did in his whole time yesterday. Two biggest mistakes yesterday were starting with Ellis and then trying to use him As some kind of target man to play off, he hasn't got the football brain to bring others in to play. Agree. Tbh, when I seen the team, the biggest thing that stuck out for me was why is he starting Ellis over Gaffney. I think Ellis has to go now, neither of the two are good enough to start and Ellis doesn't offer a great deal at all. More and more fans are turning on him. He is a confidence player and I believe he has too many fans to turn around now. I don't think he has the mentality to turn it around for us and a move away will probably be best for both parties.

I don't really rate Ellis and would rather have Gaffney starting, but it's too simplistic to blame Ellis for our poor start to the game yesterday. Posh pressed us and forced mistakes and then attacked with incisive passing and movement. We were too slow with our build-up play and that forced all our defence into mistakes. Our midfield didn't get a foothold and the strikers (Nichols also was poor for most of first half) didn't link with each other. It was a very dis-jointed performance by the team. Lots of work on training ground - to make us look more compact. And yes we need more pace in our play - passing and movement off the ball.

Ok, let's accept that you are right and Ellis isn't a target man. It's still not his fault if his team mates play every ball to him as if he was one!!

Harrison's ball control yesterday was absolute pants. Much as though many of us like him, he is pushing our patience. Anyway, it was clear that even if he'd scored to make it 1-1, the Posh would still have popped in another 2 or 3. You could see it coming a mile off.

Bristol Rovers scored one goal yesterday. That should be enough to win 1-0. The basic goalscoring was achieved. The conceding of 4 goals is the issue.
If O Clarke is not fit then perhaps Partington could fill in for a few games. The team needs a defensive midfielder every game.

We were poor and created very little but when we had that chance and it was a simple chance we didn't take it. Ellis's miss was the game changer. Think we might have nicked the win if that goes in. Started the 2nd half so well and had them on the back foot till that moment.

Just thought I'd mention; Blissett was deemed good enough to start and play 80 minutes in a victory against Charlton yesterday.

I'd always have Gaffney in the team over Harrison, but we could have got better players for free in the summer than both of them.

Let's please not compare Billy and Ellis. They should be at least 2 leagues apart.

We earnt that chance against a good Peterborough and fcuked it when we were finally on top of the game.

I know what you mean, no player is ever really free, but £250k is nothing these days if you are serious challengers.

Whilst it was a sh** pass the Boro player was behind Ellis and moved towards the ball, Ellis didn't even try.
Luke James got a lot of slack for not scoring but he would have at least made the effort to collect the ball.

He just stands there, no attempt to go for the ball. The fact that I would have played James over Ellis in a lot of games last season says it all. His time with us is up.

If DC is able to bring in two attackers, one who can hold the ball up and bring others in, and one who could be the fox in the box, then l would allow gaffers and Ellis to go out on lone. We need a warboys and bannister, or a Devon and penrice or maybe a lambert and cureton, all scored goals at this level and brought others into the mix.

I thought about Luke James yesterday at points in the first half when Nicholls and Harrison were about 100 yards away from each other and chasing down f**k all. About how he failed to score but would try his heart out. I felt naughty at the time but I genuinely, at more than one point in that first half, would have preferred James to them two. There's a reason Luke James didnt get half the sh** Harrison gets on a Saturday. He looked bothered. Harrison is far too comfortable at this club and needs a change for his own sake. But hey he's good for the changing room.
