Didn't Bodin hit the bar late in 1st half? Is that not also a 'game changer' miss? Billy done well to hit the bar from nothing. Ellis ballooned it and heads dropped after that. Was a sitter and "game changer". We earnt that chance against a good Peterborough and fcuked it when we were finally on top of the game. But every striker from lambert to luke james miss great chances,in fact every striker at every level throughout history sometimes misses easy or decent chances. Ellis had a decent chance to score but it wasnt a nailed on goal type of chance in my view.

I think his effort or lack of to score reflected his attitude or he is playing in the wrong position, he doesn't seem to WANT it enough and because of this I don't think he should be in the starting line up. I'm amazed DC keeps giving him chances.

The thing is the likes of Lambert, Taylor etc would consistently create opportunities for themselves and would get the goals. Ellis's goals seem to come by luck, there is no consistency in any part of his play. One of his best attributes imo is defending set pieces!

Against PUFC it felt like we were playing with 10 men with Ellis on the pitch. I'm just not sure what he brings to the table: he's not particularly quick, has limited first touch / control, rarely shoots on target and generally doesn't put in much effort or look interested. If he scored that sitter, at 1-1, it could've been an entirely different outcome: the crowd would've got right behind the team and who knows maybe we would've nicked a winner.
Gaffeny isn't ever going to be prolific, but at least he puts in a shift and wins most balls in the air.

Both looked great yesterday. Gaffney played as he always does, competing and working well for the team but Ellis also stepped it up and didn't put a foot wrong when he came on, grabbing a goal too and a couple of excellent defensive clearances (which he is always good at tbf).

No brainer. Gaffney to start and Harrison super sub, both were great yesterday. Absolutely and worked to a treat yesterday. Ellis may not like it but he should learn that his role as super sub is probably more value to the team and a tribute to his superb athleticism.

Typical gas thread this. Hardly any of you have the cahoonas to revisit and hold your hands up.
Credit where it's due? Nah.

Pretty sure he started at Fulham and was excellent for the whole match, and also started at Bury! If DC can motivate Ellis to give 100% every match he could well be that 20 gaol a season striker we need, with Gaffney offering something different when needed. We just now need Nichol's to score asap before the forum "experts" look for their target.

I agree with the post Gaffney should start and Ellis should be on the bench until around the 70th minute. His best performances are always when he comes off the bench. Yesterday was the best performance of the season so far. Well played the whole team. I hope Sinclair,s injury is not serious.

DC is wise, he knows Rory cant play a whole game when he's been shagging our wives all week.

Both would benefit from a lesson from Andy Rammell, they have more talent than he had but he was one effective player, who was great in the air, he could pass on some good tips, Stewy was a totally different player a number 10 in old money.

at the moment it's whoever has had a good game before. Gaffeney offers something Ellis doesn't as much. Ellis very much a confidence player otherwise he goes missing and just makes mistakes. Gaffeney woke hard all the time. only criticism of him sometimes is that he appears weak for somebody of his size.

Both playing very well atm and offer different options for the team.
Pleasantly surprised by their performances so far this season.
Keep it up lads!

Ellis had played 70 mins against Bury last weekend followed by another high energy 70 mins against Fulham on Tuesday, I think DC rightly rested him yesterday, only bringing him on as a sub.
This means that he will be ready to feature in the games that we have coming up this week.
It will be interesting to see who DC starts with against Wycombe on Tuesday and Bradford on Saturday. Given Ellis seems to be growing in confidence I would like to see him start against Bradford since that is clearly the more important fixture.

I have to say that both of them are excelling my expectations. Ever since I started questioning Ellis this season to be fair he has put in good performance after good performance. And Nichols who I expected to do well has disappointed.
