Twitter, already part of the interview online, it doesn't sound promising so far from the 1 minute recording!

I seriously think Wael's losing the plot if he thinks re-developing the Mem is now the best way forward, FFS get back around the negotiating table with the UWE or just put the club up for sale before our one chance to progress for decades has gone for good.

Very underwhelming. Great more arguments with local protest groups.

“This emotion came after it was over. It was kind of a relief, we have our own ground, and the club has its own land - let’s regenerate the Mem. Why not?” Al-Qadi told the Post.
Just f**k off already.

Well that's a bit depressing. Full circle to a flawed plan. I wonder what the max capacity will be in a redeveloped mem? They''ll need to get creative with the development to get anywhere near 20k. Do they do quadruple-tiered tents nowadays?

Love the men, hate out of town concrete bowls, what's not to like ? Yeah, one of the best locations you could get, and certainly light years ahead of any available land in the city (it seems), especially if you're talking Avonmouth or Lyde Green, or somewhere like that. There's almost no unclaimed brownfield land in north Bristol, and none, afaict, closer to the centre. Just not looking forward to another 3 or 4 years reading about all the ups and downs and the stupid NIMBY protests, and waiting on BCC, and all the other sh** that we've had for the last 20 years.

Love the men, hate out of town concrete bowls, what's not to like ? Due to parking/ environmental issues I'd be surprised if we getting planning permission for much more than 15,000 capacity ...major redevelopment means either a year away from the Mem or 3 or 4 years with restricted capacity and what new income streams will it generate? OK if your ambitions are limited to the lower league football. Actually I feel sorry for Wael ...not sure why though.

Would redeveloping The Mem be that bad?
If we could find another site suitable in 5-6 years?
I know it'll be even more time and money but other clubs have done it.
Leicester completely redevoloped Filbert St and then moved to a new stadium about 5 years after.
Derby did the same to The Baseball Ground and then moved to Pride Park about 3 years after.
Whether it is feasible for Rovers to do something similar, I dont know, and its probably doubtful.
But it has been done before

Why release this just before a game? Hardly going to get the fans in the mood for it

That lot down the road seemed to get planning pretty quick for their ground after Ashton Vale went tits up.
