Be honest that's clearly what you want to believe isn't it? The deal was probably dead as soon as the UWE refused to sell the land for a sensible price. Given what's happened in the past with Eastville perhaps the ALQ's made the correct decision, even if we don't like the fact it means no new stadium for a few more years. You are probably correct as it seems the freehold / leasehold issue has been the main sticking point, however I don't think it is fair to criticise Wael for investing time & money trying to strike a deal with UWE. From what he has said (and I think he is being honest as he comes across as a man of integrity to me) they thought they were making progress but UWE started revisiting stuff they had already agreed. At the end of the day it seems Wael's patience was worn thin resulting in them forcing UWE's hand by giving them a deadline. I think that was a brave decision, and now at least we can proceed to our own plan without relying on a third party like UWE. I take issue with the assertion by the other poster that Wael knew UWE was dead when he agreed to pay £100K to upgrade the mem pitch, the suggestion being that he is dishonest and had been keeping the death of UWE under wraps for weeks / months. For us to redevelop the mem to a decent stadium (as he has suggested we will in his recent interview) then we will surely be ripping up the pitch anyway.

I sometimes wonder what it will take to drag this effing club into the 21st century. I thought the take-over would sort things out but we still appear to be run like a Sunday league side.
Today, as we approached half time my lad announced he wanted a hot chocolate. Rather than say no and endure endless whining for the rest of the match I decided to go straight to the 2 huts behind the East Terrace and get him one before the half-time rush. When I walked down the steps from the Dribuild seats I saw this queue snaking from ONE open refreshments hut. I joined the end of the queue and got served about 10 mins into half time.
I asked the girl behind the counter why the other hut was closed and she told me it had been condemned and had to be pulled down. So, it can't have escaped the powers that be that the hut was a shithole that wasn't fit for purpose. They've had a 2 month break, plenty of time to replace said hut but no, they are quite content to let CUSTOMERS wait in line for refreshments for a goodly length of time when they've paid good money to watch the football.
That says to me that the club really couldn't give a flying F##k about their CUSTOMERS, and as result I'll bet a good number of customers thought "F##k this, I'm not queuing all this time for a poxy tea and pasty" and went without.
Well done Rovers, another opportunity to p1ss people off and lose money in the process well and truly grasped!
Thinking about it, I'd like to amend my opening sentence to the 20th century. As a club we're many years away from that landmark.

Sounds like there were all sorts of food and drink issues today

Well reassuring......not! No answers and no idea. The fans put their faith in wael and he is letting us down badly. Come up with a plan or GET OUT! How ignorant.

I thought it was another politicians performance by Wael, said a lot without saying anything of substance. My faith in him and Hamer is rapidly dwinding.

If Wael hadn't stepped in when we did the chances are Higgs and co would have taken us into receivership and we would have taken taken the point deduction then we would be known as the 16ers!

That's the point though, isn't it? The club have sold a record number of ST's, it was a certainty there would be a decent crowd for the first home game, even the weather was nice. So what does the club do? Make it as difficult as possible for paying CUSTOMERS, willing to give the club even more money, to get a drink and a bite to eat. Unbelievable! What other industry treats its CUSTOMERS in this shabby, off-handed manner. And they're finding it difficult to build a new stadium. I wonder how the F##k why?

Wael just reconfirmed what has been said before. The deal was not good for BRFC...so couldn't happen. They will however try to deliver a new stadium at the mem....upgraded to they WILL deliver.
So its just be patient for a few months I guess whilst they measure stuff ,poke around ,crunch some numbers and draw pretty pictures.

This is all very well and good but why was there only one pasty hut open behind the East stand for the first home game of the season?

WAQs a nice chap, his Dad has got his hands on all the assets and in total control; tbh the fans have got no say and never have had since the club sold out to the greyhound stadium company. We have given so many people a chance to deliver a new ground, I am now past caring. Will WAQ deliver the facilities, possibly, but not any time soon, that is for sure. The MEM is a laughing stock, but so what, whether WAQ stays or goes will be his call, but one thing I would say, I am really disappointed by his lack of investment in the team. We were ******* **** today, so the only plan I am interested in, is the one which gives DC some dosh, to bring in players as good as those which gave our team the ******** run round today.

Customer feedback is always gold dust to businesses.
I don't think we can expect W.A.Q. to micromanage everything. That's why he employs people , he will see this as the chairmans problem/issue/failure.
Ask the club for answers...they may have a good one ? or they may not !

As a club we're many years away from that landmark. Fantastic match day experience. Went for a beer in the bar under The Dribuild, queued for ages to be told by disgruntled bar staff when I eventually got to the bar - three bar staff didn't bother to turn up - sorry. Ok - went to pick up my 'free' pasty (season ticket holders) - (queued again for ages) to told "they're not free today" - the club will let you know when the "free days" are ffs. So in the end I ended with just one beer. Pitch looked good though - the rest of the day was crap.

A new £300 pasty hut can't even be sorted let alone a multi million pound stadium. Joking aside, they are only doing what option is left at this present time and I expect nothing but the Mem being rebuilt stand by stand with the aid of football league grants. I
