Thats it then. Champions.
You can hardly mock other clubs when we are sitting rock bottom on a -4 GD
I can. We are 2 games in. Mocking other clubs is as useful as mocking ourselves.

2 games in, 6 points lost. So we cant criticise players or manager after 2 games? Even DC has singled out certain individuals, perhaps someone should tell him its only 2 games as well?

I certainly never said you cannot criticise. I am saying that having a pop at our predicament after 2 games is as useful as mocking other clubs at this stage.(Or praising them for that matter). Huddersfield are 2nd in the Prem, Villa are bottom of the Champ, Blackburn are bottom of our league. None of it really matters after 2 games is what I'm saying. Do whatever makes you feel better! If you wish to be gloomy, go for it. Does that mean you would have been on here predicting us as champions if we had 6 from 6?

I'd be a hell of a lot more hopeful.
Points are points and if we are within 6 points off play offs, promotion or safety come the end of the season then you can look back and say with more preparation in the summer we could have succeeded.
One of the few things that annoys me about DC is his slow transfer activity and unprepared teams come the start of the season. from his interviews it seems he is more interested in having enough funds for the January window than building a team ready for Day 1.

Weird innit? It's a bit frustrating but we can hardly knock his track record with us.

There are a few pubs around the ground and along Manchester Road in particular. There is also a supporters club at the ground, which sometimes allows in small numbers of away fans, for a small fee (£1). Geoff Blanthorne a visiting Tranmere Rovers fan adds; 'The Bury set-up is a very friendly one, with a nice supporters club where I enjoyed a pre-match drink together with a reasonably priced lunch whilst watching the early match on a big screen.' My pick of the pubs on Manchester Road, is the Swan & Cemetery, around a ten minute walk from the ground. This Thwaites pub, is quite comfortable, serves good hand pulled beer and has a separate restaurant area. Nearer to the ground is the Staff Of Life pub, which is a basic pub serving hand pulled Lee's. Neil Le Milliere a visiting Exeter City supporter recommends the Rose & Crown on Manchester Old Road. 'It's not the biggest pub but it was very friendly; served a variety of real ales and is only a ten minute walk away from the ground.' Otherwise Bury town centre is around a 15 minute walk away where there are plenty of pubs to be found including a Wetherspoons pub called the 'Art Picture House' on Haymarket Street. Alcohol is available to away fans inside the ground albeit in plastic bottles or cans of Carlsberg Lager, a Bitter and Kingstone Press Cider (all £3.50). Went to the Swan and Cemetery a few years ago, nice drop of ale and decent food

Yeah especially when we were 7 points away last season. Its minor details that can make a big difference.
I have been around long enough to know nothing is decided after 2 games, but players like Moore and Harrison show no sign of being good enough and they have had much longer than 2 games and are still being played and given new contracts (in Ellis' case).
From the sound of the reports maybe Lumley has been missed a lot more than anyone would have thought?

I think Smith is good enough, it's the lack of a defensive midfielder and someone able to hold the ball up in attack and relieve some pressure that has been the problem for me so far. That and the lack of width.

The thing is though none of us really know the reason DC acts slowly in the transfer market or why he hasn't signed certain players. It may be because some players ask for much higher wages than DC values them at and he is tighter with his budget than other clubs. It may be because DC is much more fussy with the players he signs because they have to have the perfect attitude to fit in with the rest of his squad and he doesn't find this out until he sits down and meets with them. If he wasn't fussy with these things then the we might start the season better but the players might not want to play for the shirt a month into the season and cause unrest with the rest of the squad. You're looking at individual things rather than the bigger picture. We don't have a clue how things would turn out if DC just went out and spent money on the first player who he thought looked like they might be good enough to fire us to promotion. We might be storming the Championship by now if he had done that last season, who knows? All we can do is look at his track record over the whole year. DC's track record says 2 promotions and a top half finish in three full seasons in charge of us. I doubt that many managers would've been able to boast that record from where we were in the Summer of 2014, so I think he deserves you cutting him some slack about how we perform in the first few weeks of a season.

Fair comments. It just seems to be a running theme with not being prepared for a new season and the results seem to highlight that.
As you said he usually gets it right in the end but there is always room for improvement and constructive criticism.
I'm a bit surprised any players can be described as 'fluffy' at the start of the season but hopefully DC deals with that accordingly.
I think its the manner of the defeats more than the defeat itself that has got peoples backs up early.

I do agree that it's frustrating that we start the season slowly, every game throughout the season is worth the same amount of points after all, whether at the start, middle or end. And I'm not saying that DC is above criticism or unable to improve either, just that he has many "out of the ordinary" approaches to management which he gets criticised for when they're not going right, but it normally turns out pretty well in the end. I can remember someone saying recently how early our business was sorted a few years ago under either Mcghee or Buckle (I can't remember which?) and yet their record for us was awful. The season is always going to be full of ups and downs and it's always frustrating to see the team lose, but ultimately it's where we are after 46 games that is the most important thing.
