personally I think people are blinkered with Ellis with some perceived lazy tag and/or so say not playing well regularly enough.
If he was that lazy, he wouldn't get in a DC team and his defensive work (often ignored by most) would counter the lazy tag
Tuesday night people were still criticising him despite being no better or worse than the rest of the team and actually scoring. People never say he had an ok game, or he was as good as anyone else. Unless the lad has a blinder, some people will say he wasn't good enough full stop.
I am not saying there aren't times he doesn't deserve criticism, but to me it seems like the bloke can't do right for doing wrong. Some people must be obsessed to end up with bollox like slagging him off, for daring to watch City with his mates for instance
I don't really care what he does in his private life and not here to debate that. What I am debating is that Ellis is not good enough to be a regular in a league one side. As for being lazy or not. I've seen lazier players but he doesn't work hard enough at times. You can get away with that if you're producing i.e Taylor, Messi etc. (Did I really just nae that comparison!) The trouble is, Ellis rarely produces. Even when you aren't playing well, if you chase hard then the oppostion will make mistakes. It was evident at Charlton when Gaffney came on. He didn't do anything special but once or twice he chased the ball down and Charlton panicked and made a mistake. You have to remember subs do have an advantage coming on against tired legs. Gaffney, montano, harrison, easter and byron moore have all at times impressed against tired legs only to not be as effective when starting.

I think there is a racist element to the stick ellis get from some posters and some fans at games. Why not danny then? or jermaine? some might say? I think its because ellis is perceived as a "cocksure" black man He is a good looking lad who is just to chirpy for some to handle. Not everyone of course but there are elements of racism in the ellis hate. gaffney and ellis both had good spells and bad both scored about 10 goals last season but only ellis gets constant stick. Some people will be outraged by this post perhaps? but most will know deep down there is some truth in it. Dear oh dear, you're walking on very dodgy ground there and you know it!

But is his record even that really good from the bench other than his purple patch in the conference?

I just think the transfer market makes it difficult to get a clearly better striker than either of them.

Ellis to score 4 on Saturday now! I don't think he will be anywhere near the team on Saturday - although thinking about it DC did turn down a six figure bid for him - so he clearly rates him.

I heard it was LJ looking for a new strike partner for the snake and it was actually a 6 finger bid

We have signed 2 strikers plus the 2 already at the club, time will tell if the clubs you mention all have better strikers, well sort of because obviously the whole teams involved. I think we have spent most of our budget already so we will just have to see what happens.

Im just amazed at some of the criticism aimed at Ellis, yes, he had a bad game Sat, so may i add a few others as well, He's not a target man but that's what DC wants him to play at the moment, he may need to move to a club that plays with a big target man, that's when you see the best from him, If he does go then you will only find someone else to target, DC will leave you to support the team, leave DC to pick the team, cos we are coming across sore losers, just like the bunch across the other side of toen

It's clear they have signed better strikers than Harrison and Gaffney, not that it would be difficult - McAleney, Ajose, Beckford, Ball, Pitman, Marriott, Miller, Toney.

The talk of racism is total boll*cks. Why would racism only extend to Ellis and not Leads etc? I don't rate Ellis or Lines so am I a racist for that?
By the way, Ellis has a one year deal. The reason he gets so much stick is because he's lazy and can't hit a barn door with a proverbial. He tackles back a couple of times a season so that makes him not lazy? Yer avin a larf.

Does he know where he is meant to play? I doubt it.
