I had this argument last year with a Liverpool fan. At least they kind of understand when you explain but it annoys me how distant premier league fans are from the real game.
The problem is though, what is the real game now?
To me, the real game is the lottery of investment into a club. If you don't have that, you're not going anywhere. That's why there is such a gap of talent between Prem, Championship, and now League 1.
Those who are unable to compete financially will be taken out of the game eventually.
I really can't stand the Prem anymore.
Rant over!
What is this Prem thing some people refer to, is it the old 1st Division I used to watch?
How much better to watch live football of a team you actually support with some passion in whatever division and how much the players cost or are paid. Some fans actually watch Mangotsfield, Minehead, Salisbury, Cadbury Heath and Yate etc and enjoy it.
Money is all some people talk about especially when it's someone else's money to spend or lose.
As far as the "Dafty Cup" and the under 23's goes there appears to me to be a simple solution.
Let them play in the regional games, but get no points. The proper league teams to be awarded any points as usual and go forward to the knockout stage with the 23's having no further part in the progress to the prize of the Wembley Final.
That way the FA stated purpose of getting younger "English" Academy players quality game time is achieved without the lose of income and glory to league clubs. There problem solved?
or are the 23's clubs after our money as well???
