Makes you wonder how many they would have beaten us by with 11 men though doesn't it? Could have been 2 tonkings and even more of a meltdown if it weren't for that early red card.
While that is possible it is also sometimes the case that teams that lose a player early on have to by necessity sit deep and just defend. If they had not had a player sent off they would probably have come at us more, leaving more space which we may have exploited. I know it's all its and buts, I just don't think we can assume that we would have got tonked if they hadn't had a player sent off.
True, nobody will know for sure, but going by friends and family who were at the game they were still more threatening after their goal and going by the Posh game you can see why.

I think our problem has been playing lines and Sercombe in the middle together it hasn't really worked. All successful sides have a ball winner in the middle. We need to get Olly Clarke starting alongside either lines or Sercombe asap I think.

I'm just hoping its all in hand Steve ... have to say i have lost confidence in DCs and Hamers Recruitment ability, scouting of a player and getting them in the building. I am naively waiting for that big spend on a hungry striker but in my head can sense its simply not coming. There is some real quality out there, people on here have shown that but i fear its over looked as DC knows best!! Before people start banging on about Broadbent we only got him down to a lucky turn of fate not a meticulous scouting network looking for potential talent. I just wish we had been told honestly in June that there is no real money, we will get what we can and this season will be a battle to better last. Deep down I probably knew it even though I hoped we had turned the corner as a club, sadly the corner was simply a roundabout!! What a silly, panic inducing post. Please do calm down dear. Broadbent Nichols Searcombe Sweeney Smith Slocombe All of the above have been brought in this summer and all of the above are first team quality. When you consider we have also brought in one or two loans to pad out the squad it is very clear that our recruitment has been more than acceptable this summer. What has happened is we have come up against two of the better teams in this division and had off days. It really is as simple as that for me. We know we have an excellent manager and we know we have a squad more than capable of holding their own in this league. We need to add 1 or 2 more before the window closes and we will be well set up to get things back on track. There is absolutely no reason to panic at this point. Only Sercombe looks the part so far.... Sweeney has started way slower than I would have expected. Broadbent looks one for the future. Not sure how much competition we would have had for the signatures of the others!! Let's compare notes at the end of the month when we could still be pointless at the bottom of the League!!

In both league games we have had more possession, more shots, more shots on target and more corners than our opponents. I'm not saying we deserve to have won both games, but we could quite easily been sat in a different position had fortune been on our side either day.
All people seem to be talking about is adding a winger or a striker, yet the defending against Peterborough was woeful. I would agree that we need a quality pacey, skillful left winger, but i think its hard to say that we definitely need another striker considering we've barely seen Nichols (what we have seen he's done OK) and we haven't seen what Telford can do at all yet.
I don't think its time to start panicking just yet. UTG!

So net gain - 1 reserve goalkeeper & 1 midfielder & not having replaced Montano. That really is strengthening the squad!! Does strengthening necessarily equal more numbers. I agree - not necessarily. Goalkeeper to replace Lumley. Centre forward to replace Taylor. Centre Back - stat. Full Back to replace Harris. Broadbent to replace Hartley/Clarke-Salter. Montano not replaced - apart from Sercombe who looks like a good signing I'm struggling to see where we have significantly strengthened the squad from last season.

Don't lots of clubs leave some dealings late. Some clubs won't let players go until they have replacements, or are testing clubs to see how 'desperate' they are and getting more for their player etc, etc as it is we have signed 2 senior keepers, spent money on a centre-forward and centre-midfielder and brought Sweeney back added another forward on loan for the season and got another centre-half This is very true. A lot of clubs will wait til they have a replacement lined up before letting someone go, or like to see how much money they can get for someone before signing someone else. Then with a day or two of the window left, someone blinks first in the negotiations and it has a knock-on effect with loads of other deals. That's why there's so much activity on deadline day.

I know you cant compare 2 games but the way Posh took us apart you can see why we struggled against 10 men in the previous league game.

Stevek, how will you cope next summer? You'll have to squeeze 4 months of worry into just 3.

Posh were certainly far more clinical than us, no doubt about that! But did they really tear us apart? Not for me they didn't. We had an off day and they ruthlessly punished us for it.

So in theory we are stronger.
Likewise we lost Taylor in the second half of the season and he wasn't replaced.
Hopefully putting all the pieces together for a whole season makes us stronger.
it's early days and no need to panic just yet

Very. I watched 2 banks of defence make life difficult for us. They were a good side at home. Close game. Wow. I guess people see the game differently. I seen one very poor team (us) against one very average team. How can you expect to break down the opposition when there is no movement or don't move the ball quick enough. At least Peterborough looked a good side.

Going by the highlights I would have suspected Moses was stood in the away end parting our defence on multiple occasions. They certainly closed us down fast and looked lively, far more so than a few of our own.

Dc has made his decisions of who he has signed and in many ways will stand or fall on them. But they are not cheap options imo. nicholls 250-300k 3 year deal sercombe 100-150k 3 year deal smith 2 or 3 year deal slocombe 2 year deal sweeney season long loan all these players will be on fairly high salary in my view. We have also signed several development players and various coaches. I think most of the budget is spent now so its just a case of the players settling in and proving they are good signings.
ps... the contract lengths are speculative of course.

They saw this and attacked down our right flank at will , we were massively unbalanced is the way I saw it. I'd rather have a midfield like this Bodin Clarke Sinclair Sercombe Or Bodin Clarke lines Sercombe With Bodin lines Sercombe Sinclair the three on the right got caught out every time we lost the ball .

Slocombe & Broadbent are like last season's Partington & Burn don't really add anything to the 1st team as it seems they'll never play unless the 1st choices are injured, I'd take Lumley over Smith so we've only really got Sercombe & Nichols who've improved the 1st team but lost Monty our 1st choice left winger plus a central CM pairing of Sercombe & Lines doesn't seem to be working.

The trouble is in any of those formations we don't really have a left winger. I'd rather see Moore given a go than play a central player out there, given that he apparently looked pretty good in pre-season. Bodin Clarke/Sinclair Sercombe Moore would be my pick at the minute.

Dominate is an exaggeration. yes we had more of the ball but you would expect us to against 10 men and it's no good if you don't move it quick enough or have enough movement. As for shots, I can't remember us having many to be honest.
