Well after hearing DCs words it makes me feelo no better whatsoever and thank god he is better at bringing on ,motivating players to get results than he is at making signings. I have neither faith in the owners or Darrell to deliver quality signings. We've made some good signings! Nicholls will be immense, the others have been impressive, give it a few weeks Steve!

What a silly, panic inducing post. Please do calm down dear. Broadbent Nichols Searcombe Sweeney Smith Slocombe All of the above have been brought in this summer and all of the above are first team quality. When you consider we have also brought in one or two loans to pad out the squad it is very clear that our recruitment has been more than acceptable this summer. What has happened is we have come up against two of the better teams in this division and had off days. It really is as simple as that for me. We know we have an excellent manager and we know we have a squad more than capable of holding their own in this league. We need to add 1 or 2 more before the window closes and we will be well set up to get things back on track. There is absolutely no reason to panic at this point. If we lose to Bury Saturday will you consider them to be "one of the better teams?" No, they have made some very good signings for sure, but I don't personally see them challenging the top 6 this season. We absolutely must come away from there with something.

The only "impressive" signings for me have been Sercombe, Sweeney and the gk's. "Immense" for Nichols is going a bit hyperbole - he has struggled at League One level previously with his highest tally of 10 league goals in a season and 12 in 60 games in total.

yeah Peter Dinklage, that's who I meant Does he score goals and know things. I am personally looking forward to see him play. Stoke must have see a good player there to pick up from Blackpool just needs to be given a chance. I would give him a run out ahead of Harrison at the moment. Think we may be keeping our cards close to our chest regarding signing. See DC has been at the ground today for a sponsorship deal. think there may be other things going on. Maybe we will see tomorrow. Thursday is press day

I saw him a bit when he was at Exeter during some games and in training, he looked pretty good to be fair but also quite lightweight, and that was L2.

I understand your frustration Steve. This was how I felt in January. Don't get me wrong I think DC will do well with what we have but it is so frustrating to see other clubs show more ambition. And I wouldn't be surprised if we have a similar season to last year. We are certainly no better than mid table so far after the pre season and 2 league games. I do think we will being in the players we need We need a centre forward but according to Darrell we are only looking at DM and LW so not sure we will.

Its not rocket science. DC is given a budget before the season starts which he must stick to.
The season is a marathon not a sprint. Rovers play 4 league games in August before the transfer window closes. Mindful of his budget DC uses these 4 games to assess his squad and identify any additions needed going into the next 21 games until the January window opens. If he spunks all the cash too soon there will be nothing left in the kitty come January when there are still another 21 games to play.
By waiting until the end of the August window he won't be overpaying to secure the players he has identified as players/selling clubs (which also have to balance budgets) are more likely to reduce their demands. DC is just using all of the available time he has in August to plan the season and get maximum value from the budget he has been given. He has done this the past 3 years I don't get why so many are up in arms about as his track record is excellent.

He has some decent technical aspects to his game, but I'm not convinced by him from what I've seen with us and previously. He definitely needs to work on his strength, as you say, he's a bit lightweight. He's still young though and plenty of time to develop and improve.

Yep fingers crossed, he's a bit nearer to home now so hopefully he will feel more settled here than at Posh.
I would have spent that money on other players before him but will be happy to be proved wrong.

Our team as it is now I think it is all about goals. We have Bodin of course and I expect Sercombe to get quite a few but after that?

Gaffney will get 12 Ellis the same. Nicholls will bag 15. Midfielders the rest for top 8 finish.

Bottom of the league, no new stadium, no exciting signings, no news on the training ground, got knobbed in our fortress, no future plans, lost loads of experience in the squad, squad arguably worse than last seasons, no optisimistic happy fanbase and no bloody cheese and onion pasties in my usual food hut! This season sucks! Almost nostalgic for many of my previous years following the gas! We've been spoilt recently! How quick things can change! That's the positive though lads- things can change quickly! On to the next one gas! Chins up and let's go again at bury and grind out a result and get building again! UTG.

Dear me you would have thought we would have had 0 promotions in the last 3 seasons and not 2 and not far off having a decent go at a third.

It's impossible to get further away from a top 6 spot than we are at present! To answer the OP's question: Ahead of Rovers' trip to Bury this weekend, Clarke was asked where the club stood with its transfer plans. "Nothing happening in the pipeline to be honest with you," admitted Clarke. "We're still after a couple of players but we'll see what happens and develops towards the end of August but I'm more concentrating on my own squad, we've got a big week of games coming up."

Wern't Sheffield Utd in the bottom 4 after the first few games last season ? They were, but they also had a £600k striker in Billy Sharp who scored 30 goals and made the difference in a lot of games.
