Partington and Ollie Clarke could have done with a game, would have made it slightly more even. Partington was rested on Saturday so he didn't play 3 games in one week and OC seems to be struggling for fitness/form so making them play 3 games in a week makes no sense. Although is this a a "reserve" or "development" league as if it's the former then why are the likes of Burn, Broadbent, Broom & Bola getting game time? if partington is not fit enough yet to play 3 in a week then it would useful for him to build match fitness, as for Clarke he was well off the pace on Sunday and may of benefited in another game. I think it's a mix of reserve, developement and trialists. Cheltenham today played all three and we had first teamers and youth players in it last year so I don't think that has changed since.

Gotta feel for the youngsters. DC was there watching as well. As long as 1 or 2 develop into first team players results are not that important. Perhaps they are just late developers.

Yes, I heard him compliment you on your postings, but then Marcus chipped in and said that for such an eloquent poster he found it odd that you continually use the incorrect word "there" instead of the correct word indicating possession "their".

Certainly weak at the back with set pieces 2 free headers from the last 2 corners
Sounds like they are ready for 1st team football then!

Looking at the team Cheltenham put out on Tuesday it isn't too much of a surprise that our lads got well beaten. It was our development side against their reserves side so 5-1 isn't as bad as I first thought. It included Aaron Downes (age 32), Nigel Antangana (age 27), Daniel O'Shaughnessy (age 22), Dan Holman (age 27) who all have good experience around League Two level as well as a few others who have made first team appearances.
As long as the young lads learn from the experience against sides like this then that's the main thing.

I played quite a decent level of football and I cant remember learning too many things from being thumped and chasing shadows.
maybe they would benefit from one or two first team fringe players in the same side to guide them?

Although it can be disheartening to get thumped I think you can learn a lot from playing against better and more experienced players, a bit like learning from your mistakes. But I agree and thought the same about having one or two fringe players or more experienced players in the side with the young lads. They could learn a lot about communication and positioning from playing with experienced players like Mansell, Easter and Mcchrystal but obviously they are not here in playing roles any more. I wonder if it would be worth seeing what they are up to on Tuesday afternoons at the minute and asking if they fancy a game with the young lads from time to time.
