His first tasks this Saturday will hopefully be as follows:

2) Visit the luxurious conveniences.
3) Take a seat in one of the tent like scaffold like structures (aka a stand).
4) Listen to our usual warm up music followed by bing bong man announcement etc.
5) Sit back and enjoy the footie & unique atmosphere that is the fortress mem!
Post match - write up report with 10 action point plan on how to improve the match day experience for fans and identity a shed load of opportunities to increase revenue in order to raise significant sums of dosh for the club as well as pay for his wages!

I wonder what BS SH told him before he took the job? Looking at his twitter feed Albion fans seem sorry to see him leave.

Feeling positive about this appointment - another part of getting the infrastructure sorted - increased revenue, hopefully starting with decent match day grub!

Pretty much! Then in the foreseeable future or so develop a longer term strategic plan to grow the club and it's non-football income so that by this time next year we will be able to see a difference between now and then. UTG!

Yes he'll be expensive but when you say a project worthwhile marketing on, surely BRFC are one, aren't they? I presume you don't mean a new ground because that may take another 6/7 years and I can't imagine you would argue that we wait another 6/7 years before we appoint a Commercial Director are you?

Do we also need to improve our PR, most notably on Social Media?
I am thinking that the last month or two social media has been awash with rumour, counter rumour, etc and the silence on certain things has fuelled speculation. It seems that we are reacting to events (see the recent Colony update) yet we could be on the front foot and prevent some of the uncertainty.
I guess that there would have to be some limitations as not everything is able to be in the public domain and the risk is that when certain issues are not answered it would only add to the problem, but I do think that the club needs to improve communication and to be proactive rather than bury collective heads or act too late after a narrative has been allowed to fester.

Still no mention on the OS. pretty official though. It's be announced through Twitter and Facebook. Think board be trying to keep appointments low key since Mr Cunnah and other announcements have gone to waste.

One of his biggest revenue losses will be the number of people who go to the pubs on Glos Rd rather than the bars at The Mem (I'm one of them).
Even the televised game on Saturday lunchtime attracted 50 fans to The Anchor - 300 yards away from the ground, but clearly a more desirable boozer than we can manage at The Mem (which was also showing the game)!
He's got his work cut out!

That's not a problem with the social media or marketing team themselves, that's a board level communication issue down to the fans. They can't release stuff if they're not allowed to... in fact they probably don't even know about it until Hamer drops them the email saying to put it up and release it.

Communication between the club and the fans is truly appalling. The collapse of the UWE deal demonstrated how bad things have become. The new Commercial Director will have his work cut out. To increase Commercial activity at the Mem will be pretty hard to achieve.

Yes you are correct it will be hard but just because something is difficult shouldn't mean you don't attempt it. Although I guess the owners will be looking for him to recoup his salary by increasing business/turnover etc. And if BRFC is serious about growing as a business and becoming more independent from football income then a Commercial Director is the least we should expect isn't it? It's got to be a good sign. UTG!

I just wonder how much more value you can get out of the present set up at the Mem, we can hardly get many more fans though the turn styles so have to increase spend per fan which won't be an easy task if we're stuck as being a mid table div 1 side? I agree we've needed a decent CD for years, I'm just surprised at the high profile ( and I assume salary) of the new CD.
