The things to take from the podcast albeit a few years old are... 1) The inclusion of free bus and rail travel to home games with a season ticket. This will be a major achievement if done at Rovers . It will be the biggest counter to car parking fears and traffic congestion by locals. This will be one of the first things to come up during planning for the New Mem. It also means (unless parked at a park and ride) fans can have a drink at the game if they wish. 2)More involvement with fans ,bringing fans closer to feel part of the club. Creating a community feel.Which also then lets the fans advertise the club to others in positive ways. 3) Increasing season ticket sales. Ok the facilities are not upto much at the mem compared to Cardiff and Brighton but its selling what Rovers do have to its best ability. On a side note: I would say the east terrace is always the last to sell out and has lowest figures/capacity in general. This is where the data collection comes in. Use the data to offer targeted cheaper season tickets and supply the facilities that target audience prefer. 4) free wifi at ground. Any need to comment ? 5) pre and post match entertainment. If I was wealthy and owned BRFC I might look to buy the Victoria pub....or others in the locale. That way fans still get their prematch pub but the club get the income.... Free wifi would be a win-win. Sign up to club wifi, the fans get internet and we could monetise the data. Lots of businesses do it.

Yes it looks absolutely great and very professional. It will also look bright and airy because it's new and in a fairly rural area, out of town and attractive to corporate stuff. So it will be easy to attract the companies and audience which will give mega bucks to have events there. I suspect that most of the Rovers fan base would hate to be in an out of town location which will be more difficult to get to. I wouldn't mind because I come from a distant anyway and need to park when I arrive. For me, it would be really convenient but to the greater majority of our fans it wouldn't be so convenient. I bet Brighton have got away with such a rural location because since it opened they've had nothing but success and have probably attracted a whole new set of fans. Had they been always in Leagues 1 or 2 it might have been different. But companies will see the attraction of it as a location completely apart from football. So they've probably grown their non football income. We could do that but I bet some fans would hate the location which would allow us to do that. UTG! warehamgas Not sure I would call it rural at the Amex and it is next to the railway, but it is a very impressive setup. That's what 100 mill gets you on a cheapish piece of land. I wonder if Wael has ever played poker? uk.businessinsider.com/tony-bloom-biography-2017-4Interesting read

I still think if it as a out of town, rural-like location as opposed to the enclosed city location. Impressive it certainly is. My point was that it is a more attractive location than the Mem could ever be. That's not a criticism of the Mem, just stating fact and acknowledging that some of our fan base don't want an out of town facility. Interesting to hear it was a relatively cheap piece of land but still cost £100m. Phew, puts the UWE into some context then doesn't it? UTG!

Did the Vic not close as they were not making a decent living out of it. If the club bought it, we would surely be in the same position. There is no way a few hours drinking by gasheads once a fortnight for nine months would not justify buying it in the first place. There is no way the likes of the Wellie or Annex would survive if they just relied on the trade from Rovers home games, simple as that.

Seriously we're going to give £5/10 of free travel away per game, when we hardly charge more than that in some areas of the ground? What about fans who travel from further a field are they going to be happy to subsidise fans who live locally?
As are as "free wifi" what does it cost to set up and give free wifi to 10/12K of fans per home game probably thousands?

Not sure fans need free WiFi during a football game what would be in it for the club as well. Not really a money making idea. No Deal Noel.

Some all seater stadiums have apps for ordering food to your seat. Works great: '2 cheese burgers, fries and a coke to seat 25G'. Of course in the north stand it would be more like '2 pasties and a kit kat, to just behind the left side of the 18 yard box, up about 6 yards, behind the bloke with the blue cap and the black jacket.' And then wait for an hour.

probably going back to work for brends Barnstaple hotel lol! He is stadium manager which may be seen as a full-time job as is commercial director Probably the only third tier club to have a 'Stadium Manager'. Surely that's not a full time role at a ground like the Mem, all they have to do is maintain a few pasty huts!

Wimbledon I was thinking that last home game I wonder if the old owners sold up because they were banking on us moving. A great opportunity for someone, call it The Gas and gaurunteed to get custom on a Saturday.

Not even half and what about the rest of the 342 days in the year? Oh hang on I forgot, 3 or 4 night matches and the odd cup game, bound to make a fortune from that. That idea can be binned along with subsidised travel and free WiFi!

I think you are underestimating people's addiction to thier phones! In addition it would be another factor in attracting people to the stadium bars before and after a match. Almost every pub offers free wifi now. Come on, be inventive.
Like lots of businesses do, people would have to register. You then make money out of that data. Add advertising on the login page. How do you think the likes of The Cloud and Purple make money? howtorunapub.co.uk/pub-wi-fi/

Free WiFi for 100 or so people in a pub is a different proposition to supplying it to 10,000+ fans inside the ground? Perhaps in the bars would make sense but I can't imagine many fans would decide to watch a game based on whether or not we supplied free WiFi/

For that many users, The Cloud or Purple will probably set it up for free.

Like I say, I'm sure we could partner with somebody who would do it for virtually nothing in return for all those users.
No of course fans wouldn't decide to watch a game based on free WiFi, but its all part of the experience, and add in the marketing opportunities.
