Lines inst going to be here forever, Ince wouldn't be bad option, we have quantity in midfield but not necessary the quality. We must get another wide player in and a striker though. Not sure we do have quantity if we're going to be playing 4-3-3 a lot. An injury to one of our 4 CMs and we're struggling big time. Agreed on striker but think we'll only see a defensive mid and LW signed.

Sign ince and throw out ollie clarke then? Terrible idea We definitely need a DM even if as backup to Ollie Clarke - Ollie has shown how important a DM (and he to be fair) is to our lineup at present - if he were to pick up an injury or be suspended I think we'd struggle. IMO we desperately need one even as backup - but I hope we sign someone who can genuinely push to replace Ollie - healthy competition and all that. Its a sign of our amazing progress that fans now expect cover for every position i suppose. I remember looking at the bench in the mansfield relegation game and thinking who on earth can come on as sub!! Even now i dont think its realistic to have specialist cover for every position, sinclair or lockyer for example could play the defensive midfield role.

I totally understand your point of view and I partially agree, but I think that DC has identified that a midfield three that includes Lines and Sercombe could be vital to our play this season, and for them to be fully effective, a reliable defensive midfielder is needed. Ollie Clarke is a very good player but is he truly a defensive midfielder? Arguably he is more equipped to play alongside Lines or Sercombe in a midfield 2, or alongside one of them and a defensive midfielder in a 3. With Sinclair as well, we have good options but with a classy defensive midfielder we could really be going places, in my opinion.

For quite a few years our bench was mainly filled with academy players who were complete unknowns in the football league, no wonder we struggled as much as we did. I agree that if you pick up a couple of injuries in the same position, its realistic at this level to expect someone to just cover and maybe play out of position, we haven't got the same budget as a top half Premier League side but I thinks that is the sort of strength in depth some expect. Although I do think we have to have a bit more depth now due to the fact that you can't just bring a loan in at any time in the season. Perhaps the money spent on backroom staff has been worth more than we realise, as we don't seem to have had as much bad "luck" with injuries the last year or two as we did previously.

Bury's 89th Signing...... Bury are really darting to p*ss me off with their signings, it's clear it's not sustainable, just a last roll of the dice by their chairman to get them Championship football. As we saw on the weekend it hasn't got them far. Edit: If that wasn't enough, they've signed another from Huddersfield!

Seriously though, how the f**k can they afford all these signings without breaching FFP? They get a handful of fans per match and haven't exactly made millions through transfers?!

And they also sold George Miller to Sunderland. Previous to that they have sold Matty Foulds (Everton) and one or two others for over a million, so they've got a decent production line there.

This is taking the water now .... Rohan Ince to Bury ?
We are so off the top end pace with signings this summer ... absolutely gobsmacked !
Just saw Will Grigg to Charlton potentially ... can understand that a bit more, but again L1 is ridiculously competitive this year. What a signing he could have been though.

I would prefer to carry on with the development of our own ollie clarke,if we signed ince on loan it would limit his opportunities to start so im well pleased we havnt signed him.

We barely had any injuries in the Trollope promotion season, it's the mark of a successful team.

Yeah but the saving grace is that they have got Lee Clarke in charge who is a first class Muppet so they won't be going any way but down 😁

Dietitians and specialist fitness coaches (don't actually know specifically what staff there are) could be the best signings we've made without anyone even realising it. That and DC's "ridiculous" policy to rotate players all through the season that everyone slates might be the reason we've had so few injuries and therefore the reason we've had so much success the last few years.
