Attachment DeletedIn response to a number of requests regarding an update on our training ground, we can comment as follows. Pre-application consultation is ongoing with South Gloucestershire Council for the new training ground. We expect their written feedback on proposals imminently, which will frame the parameters for the development, and enable us to progress to submission of a full planning application. We await the outcome of South Gloucestershire Council’s deliberations and out of respect for the local community work will not commence until official approval has been received. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2017/august/22.08.17---training-ground-update/

A lot of 'hurry up and wait' but a welcome update from the club

So we're waiting on South Glos?
A clever smokescreen while the board try to flog the club to rich Texans, or we're just waiting for a local council to get back to us?
Something doesn't ring true. We send off an application to a local council and we have to wait to get a reply. Does that even make sense? Seriously, has anyone even waited for something before. Can't see it myself. If anything, whenever I write to someone, they reply before I send it. Something definitely fishy, here.

Good shout by the club this to hopefully dampen down all the wild speculation that is going on.
It's a short but sweet statement to let us know that things are still progressing forward and that they are still committed to the project.
Also, the fact that they are treading carefully out of respect for the local community once again speaks volumes about BRFC, Wael and the way we conduct our business.

Very low key and tells us the bare minimum. Get the feeling the Club does not want to say too much and is using local sensitivities as an excuse.

When the project started there was a big fanfare, TV coverage and interviews etc. Most of us were excited by the project. Then silence for 6 months apart from Hamer saying it would be operational for 2018/19 pre-season which is now very unlikely. The lack of detail and apparent delays means an excuse is needed for the lack of communication and it seems local sensitively is the excuse being used or from your perspective perhaps the reason. Whether it's an excuse or reason there certainly seems to be more caution and less communication than when the land was acquired.

Pre-application discussions are often drawn out affairs but if they are carried out correctly there is a better chance of getting the decision made in our favour much sooner.

You have challenged the story from the club but then bizarrely not offered an explanation as to what you feel is actually happening? "This pen is blue" "No it isn't you're lying!" "What color is it then?" "I don't know, I am color blind"

Yet more "confidentiality" bullsh*t I expect.
Just move over and let a group of nameless, faceless, motiveless investors whose modus operandi is opening commercial negotiations by way of rumour take over Wael you amateur.

Just out of interest what motivation do you feel Wael had in taking over BRFC?

Too easy. Take the wind out of The Consortium's sails. Simple. A ten million quid p1ss take is nothing when you own a bank!

None of us actually know but I've always guessed
1) A way to raise his profile in football (I own a club, he's been involved with the Jordian FA before) 2) Develop young Jordian footballs (documentary when he took over talked about players of a certain age in Jordan having nowhere to go). 3) Use the profile of a football club to develop other beneficial leisure ventures (Hotels, conference centres in Bristol). 4) Kudos (I think probably exceeded his expectations on Gloucester Road following promotion) 5) He love football (especially in England).
If this is the case and he achieves them then they also benefit BRFC.
