To be fair isn't the food put out to tender and cooked by the makers of the pasty and just re-heated at the Stadium. If they were burnt at the food makers the stadium staff would just re-heat the burnt items?
Anyway, I think the cooks are agency staff. Last week, I saw a cook come out of the ground wearing a red football shirt. I thought he was a Gunner as I thought he was holding a mis-spelt Arsenal item, or maybe he was a modern man advertising that he had an accident grooming his bum fluff. It said something like Arse nic.
After all we wouldn't let a red fan from an agency get a job cooking food at the Mem so he could poison us or ruin our food would we!

If he did, I doubt anyone would notice!!! Take your point about tbe food being cooked off site but surely someone from BRFC should be checking the quality instead of giving them carte blanch to serve crap!! It just seems to me that NO ONE at BRFC seems to care about the catering. Seem its Ok by them to have the supporters ripped of with sub standard goods at exhorbitant prices.

Where I work there are hundreds of people in the building. Many years ago the staff canteen served good food at a reasonable price. Then it went out to tender and a new catering company came in. Instantly, prices went up and they introduced their arty farty chefs. A year ago, a big redesign of the canteen (they now call it a restaurant but I insist on "works canteen", which wateres them off) took place and in came the Fair Trade stuff and prices went up again. Years ago you could get a decent plateful of food for £2. Now you get a couple of mouthfuls of arty farty crap for £6 and the canteen is still full. The point I'm making is that as long as there are people who are willing to pay that much for so little, then the caterers have no incentive to change. The only way they will ever listen is when their profits are hit. However, if there are 2500 people where I work, and they need 300-400 to eat at their canteen to get their profit level, they know they have a very good chance of hitting targets as it's only 12-16%. At Rovers, they don't need all 8-9000 of the crowd to buy a pasty, they only need a certain percentage to buy and then they are happy. So, unless the whole crowd are going to go on pasty strike for a couple of games, I think all the moaning is just watering in the wind. I haven't bought anything from the pasty outlets for a couple of years cos it's dogshit. If I'm really that hungry at the game I'll get a bacon/sausage bap or some chips from the Blackthorn bar outlet.
Makes me seethe. And just when are they going to start selling pedigree chum? I could have that with chips!

It's a real shame this is happening as on the other hand, the food served in Hospitality is brilliant.

I gave my free pasty token to my son, as I won't use it now that they've taken veggie pasties off the menu. He got a sausage roll, which he described as "rank" and was glad that he hadn't paid for it. is that at the south stand? Available in North Terrace

Available in North Terrace Veggie pasties in the North Terrace - outraged, we were told that they have been taken off the menu (South Stand), and they are no longer included on the menu price list.

I e-mailed Ian Holtby last week, with a link to this thread, along with a few comments of my own about lost revenue. Please see his response below:-
Thank-you for your e-mail and I appreciate your comments, I have called a meeting with our catering Department to discuss these points and I am sure we can get this right very soon.
Once again thank-you for taking the time to keep me informed.
His response is encouraging, so I will wait to see what Saturday brings.

Some of us leave home around midday and don't get home until half six. Best part of 6 or 7 hours out the house for a home game. Plenty on here have longer days than that. Reasonable food isn't too much to expect. £3.50 for a sh** pasty is not really on. I can get a lovely pasty at my local bakery for £2. There's the answer to your problem then Hugo , go to the bakery enroute to the mem , something before the game and something for travelling home . 😋 All true. Leaving at 10.30/11.00 and not getting home until just after 7.00 means it's a long time. It would be good to be able to get something decent to eat at the Mem but not the end of the world. It surely can't be hard to provide something good at reasonable prices, perhaps the new Commercial Director will sort it! I take something so it's better, I know where it's come from and its cheaper and I park up on Kellaway Ave and watch the world go by. Very civilised way to spend a Saturday and of course because I'm driving unable to drink so a flask of coffee! I know I'm a cheapskate!! Football food isn't brilliant but the Mem food is ten times better than the burger (I think that's what they called it from one of the vans at Southampton the last time we were there. God it was inedible and I threw it away!). And let's face it if you're taking kids that makes is prohibitive price-wise. UTG!

We park up on the common and eat our snacks before the game and then after the match we pop into the news agents grab a drink and some sweets and chocolate and listen to radio Bristol , we have always done this and always will. I do get that the food should be better by what our fans have said but to me it really isn't about the food at the mem it's the football like yourself. Always good talking to wareham as your posts are always spot on! I should try to word mine differently at times as I don't mean to come across as rude! UTG

I would pay £5 or £6 for a meal deal at the Mem. A decent pasty, a drink and a regular size bar of chocolate for a fiver would be ok. Sadly it's a value for money issue. If the food was any good I'd end up spending an extra tenner at the Mem every visit. If even 200 others feel the same that's 2 grand in lossed revenue. Take in 24 games at home and you are on the way to the wages of a player right?

Take in 24 games at home and you are on the way to the wages of a player right? Yes. If it was value for money many others would do the same. As you say get it right, make a profit and it pays for a couple of players. Let's hope the owners and the new Commercial Director see it the same way. Went to Man C last year and the £££ they were making from food must have been pretty large. Or put another way, any football club has a captive audience for about 3 hours at least on a Saturday. In Rovers case that means about 8000 people or about 4,500-5000 families. I hope the Commercial Director sees that as an opportunity to grow commercially the club. Mind you, as you've said, it will need to be value for money, or people will just walk past. And young families with gasheads of the next 30 years like Okebourne's need to be looked after so they are attracted by value for money offers, whether its food, entertainment or merchandise and make it an even better match day experience. It would be good to think in a years time we will have seen an improvement in all aspects of this. UTG!

To a degree the point I'm making remains unless of course we make zero profit on anything sold at the ground in which case it doesn't matter what you serve up.
