I have just had to spend the last half an hour routing through reports from other members about name calling, choice of language used in context and also using slang terms of racially aggravating language, the latter being dealt with by a final warning.
Now before you all think I am getting all power trippy, I'm not. I volunteer as a mod here just so we can all have a good chat, good debate and keep it good natured (and keep the annoying teds away). Unfortunately we have a small minority that are not able to keep things civilised. As most of us here are or should be adults, why cannot we stop calling each other names? It baffles me, its like the school playground all over again. For crying out loud, behave!
Use of language: The mod team can not, and will not tolerate use of racially charged slang terms of language. Please do not resort to using it. It's not about being PC, its about being decent. Because you are 60+ and have been brought up using such language and seeing it as normal is not an excuse that will wash. If any form of racial slur is used, you will be warned and possibly banned.
I hope the above is clear.
Thanks

It wasn't singling anyone out per se, but a reference to a thread earlier where a lack of common decency wanted to be the norm.

I am not 60 plus but wonder why our more mature forum members are being singled out? anyway, I'm off to watch the black and white minstrel show and love thy neighbour I watched an episode of Rising Damp at the weekend. I felt so dirty afterwards that I popped round to my mixed race neighbour and asked if I could do 10 hours community service for him just in case he felt offended that someone might have walked past my house, glanced in my window, saw what I was watching, and knocked on his door to report me.

Istm, Rigsby's treatment of Philip is actually a satire of ignorant white attitudes, and nailed it in a way that still holds up today.

What do you think of Philips arrogance towards Rigsby and the way he talks down to him ?

That's why it's such a neat dynamic, istm, and why they're such good sitcom type characters, they both have their risible foibles.

And Philip was a prince. Was he, or was he just pretending? When I watched it back in the day, I'd kinda assumed that that was just a running joke/misunderstanding, but maybe it was true.
