I must say that, for me (DC), Hugo's shopping story takes the pip.

There are no Chinese investors looking to buy the club. There is no consortium able to buy the club. Any investors were those investing in the building of a stadium. The current owners are not going anywhere. They are doing as they said . They are building the club the right way . Good infrastructure ,youth development , Other income sources . Keeping the playing budget within a sustainable framework. Its the model they work on...take a good potential investment that is in poor condition and slowly grow it so it gains maximum returns eventually. Without taking big risks along the way that could turn the investment into a disaster. Theres lots of disgruntled people ,people whose noses have been put out of joint , pure wind up merchants and those who get the hint of a story but don't get the whole story. INVESTORS ARE FOR THE STADIUM PROJECT (including the business' that might run on site also) Presumably it's fair to suggest that the investors the Al-Qadi family had lined up for the UWE stadium have, at least, taken a step back to re-evaluate the whole situation and decide if their investment is still viable, which will take some time and will depend on what the New Mem is actually to become. So the evolution must at best be on hold at the moment. Until the plans for the site are drawn I suspect you are right. If the New Mem offers the same facilities and income the UWE stadium offered then I don't see why the investors would walk away. The new Mem will not have to provide education facilities like the UWE stadium did so that space has other income opportunities I guess.

Emphasising my dear chap not shouting. So a league two club with a third world stadium bought for a reasonable sum . In one of the countries bigger populated areas . With modest investment ,good management and a good long term plan. If/when the plan comes to fruition and the goals have been achieved. Stadium quality training facilities Academy Premier league team
How much is that club then worth ?
Leicester city were owned by milan Mandaric who sold the club to a Thai company whilst he became a stakeholder in the consortium. In the championship in 2010 they were bought for £39million .With £100million in debts converted to shares. When they won the premier league the value was at £436million.
So money is there to be made if you buy a big city club for pennies and take them to the top flight.Even as an established championship club with all the facilities the club would be worth a lot more money than it was bought for.
You do realise MM bought Leicester after the cost of building the new stadium forced them into receivership, not sure that's an attractive proposition for the ALQ's! Yes but it was about how much the Thai company paid (£39m plus £100m debts) and how much their investment increased (£436million). Chelsea was worth about £1.2 billion and Manchester United worth £2.4 billion. Obviously not saying Rovers will be like these clubs but it just shows the values clubs rise to when premier league football arrives long term.

One has to assume so ,as no other site has been mentioned.

Sorry to interrupt, but what the feck has all this got to do with whether he was at the game last night??? It started with a fun little dig at our absent owner during these difficult times on and off the pitch. It's somewhat escalated into so much more. Or much less I suppose, depending on how much you care about actual, provable facts. I submit that slagging off the owners is the top passtime these days. Try it, you might like it. WAQ once took a few grapes off a bunch while he was doing his shopping. Not only is he a theif, but it's proof that he has no money and Rovers are going to be sold. Probably to Italians because they have lots of grapes. * Ahem...... *This may be a lie. Though it may not be. LOL much much less I feel. Seems more like sour grapes from some to me! Look, we were all disappointed with the collapse of UWE and the way the communication was handled wasn't great, but to those whinging about WAQ "get over it" I say and stop bearing a grudge. Life is full of disappointments along the way but sometimes things that happen are for the best in the long run, our owners decided to walk away from the UWE deal, that means it obviously wasn't a good deal for BRFC and that's good enough for me. I will admit right now I am an optimistic person, a glass half full type if you like, OK wtf....I'm a self confessed rose tinter OK! Perhaps those that seek to discredit our owner secretly want us to remain rag bag rovers, to stay in our comfort zone if you like. IMO our future has never looked so positive, yes progress is steady and gradual but Rome (see what I did there?) wasn't built in a day and neither is a multi-million pound stadium, state of the art training complex and a championship ready team. WAQ said at the very beginning it was going to be evolution and that's exactly what we are getting, anyone that was expecting shed loads of cash to be thrown at the club a la Pantsdown style and instant success to come our way were foolish to think so as this was never promised and we're certainly not entitled to it. To me we do seem to be moving forwards and not backwards, in the time that WAQ has been our owner we've achieved much more than I had expected, returning to the football league at the first time of asking and then getting promoted back to L1 followed by our highest finish for 17 years and here we are now only 1 point away from where we were last season and we're not even performing anywhere near our best yet. Lets be honest, there is not a shred of evidence that our owner's heart is no longer in the development of Bristol Rovers. I believe the OP was started post Wolves, and whilst I myself went to that game I don't know if WAQ did however I can confirm that he was definately there at Portsmouth last week as he was sat in the row just in front of me. If his heart was not in BRFC anymore then why on earth would he bother going to that game. UTG!

Agree with this except you can't give credit to WAQ for getting us back in the league as we were already back when he bought us....that is a rose tint too far even for me. 😁

Blue stone as much I agree with much of what your are saying. we were already in league 2 when WAQ showed up and we werent doing that badly either.
I think them coming in probably gave the club a lift the time as we thought we would become a well backed club, Stadium be more likely... can't remember WAQ signing any players.
Unfortunately we are 20 months down the road, and i think more so this season the progress/evolution has slowed right down. Supporters and probably players are disillusioned about everything going on.

I think you are being a little unfair WAQ has made money available to improve the 1st team and set up a proper development squad. Yes we did get money for the snake and from the Chelsea game but at least it has been reinvested in the 1st team which never happened in the past so I would say it still qualifies as evolution and I am happy to think this way until there is more evidence that all is not rosy.

To be fair to NH it always seemed he backed his managers unfortunately until he employed DC they all just wasted any money given to them. I doubt DC has a bigger budget this season than he would if NH was still in charge, as NH always spent beyond his means.
