I always liked JJ O'Toole. On the pitch maybe. Off the pitch, not at all. Imo to be a class act the player has to be class on and off the pitch.

I thought it was Mike Pickering. (Paul Gilchrist did not play in that match) That him. I knew it wasn't Peach. Top man Definitely Pickering, but I thought Neil. Evans was hammering the turf in agony but Pickering walked away & only glanced back once with no emotion on his face. I believe Ray Kendall in his autobiography said Southampton never sent any word of even sympathy or condolence. Shankley once called Southampton "alehouse players". Yes,I also was stood right in front of it.

Who are your favourite Rovers class players ? The ones who always have or create a bit of extra time and space, play good passes, and don't seem to get ruffled...
Let's start with:-
Manager: Don Megson
Players:- Mickey Barrett (RIP) Phil Kite Nigel Martyn Brian Parkin John Scales Stu Taylor Larry LLoyd Gary Mabbutt Tim Parkin Phil Roberts Neil Slatter Steve Yates Marcus Browning (?) Andy Reece Phil Roberts Chris Lines David Williams Dennis Bailey Jason Roberts Billy Bodin Paul Randall John Taylor
Any more anyone ?
Not sure John Taylor can be on a list ahead of Hayles and penrice WTF?

Matt Lockwood.
Played in about 4 different positions without complaining and did pretty well in all of them.
Liked him a lot.

I've been watching the Gas since 1987, but didn't see any games between 1996 and 2006. Going on the football that I have seen, the players who had that little bit of extra class can make up nearly a whole team: GK: Nigel Martyn RB: ? LB: Vaughan Jones CB: Steve Yates CB: Steve Elliott RM: Billy Bodin CM: Ian Holloway CM: Chris Lines LM: Dennis Bailey CF: Rickie Lambert CF: Marcus Stewart Can't ever remember a classy right back! Any suggestions? Could Dennis Bailey play left wing? I really want him in the team, but let's be honest, Ollie would have to work bloody hard in that team! Maybe the balance is not quite right
