I was at Filton High with Terry, those kick arounds at lunchtime with a tennis ball on the hockey pitch were legendary. Sadly left us early along with the likes of Colin James. Chris as has been said fell in with the wrong crowd in his first spell at the club, Roadmans Coronagate was an example of him being led by senior players. There was a clear drinking culture amongst the team in those days, muck akin to the Sh*theads in the 90's. I will always remember the Bananarama play-off final, he was clearly struggling late on and was about to be substituted. He stayed on and was part of the victorious penalty shoot out. ONE OF OUR OWN It was more an example of a witch-hunt of a player over a pretty minor non-incident. @roadman

And he seems to be getting better all the time. I have to disagree here. Lines is having another good season - no doubt. But his goalscoring isn't what it used to be. He got some great goals last season but only a few and I doubt if he's off the mark this season (??) - definitely an area he needs to recover something he used to have.

I wouldn't mind if he went on penalty duty.

I think during his interview, he mentioned he was now playing slightly deeper? Goals won't be that easy to come by from back there but as long as he's playing the front line through and making his runs leading to opportunities, that's fine by me.

Agree. 1 he is deeper and also I have alwasy noticed with Lines that he looks for a pass rather than taking a shot himself most of the time.

If you youtube 2015/16 & similar the goals for the season, the amount of times he lays off a killer pass is brilliant. Shame the fans who stand near my Father in the Dribuild can't see it as they are his biggest critics. Can lay a pass off, can't shoot, shouldn't be on the pitch!

You should try sitting in front of the whinging bell end who when we went 1 nil down at home to Blackpool shouted that he wished Blackpool scored again to show us how bad we are. And he moans every single sodding game. Why do people bother?

Pretty sure the OP himself under his former moniker of 1973 was the one who started a thread entitled "Chris 'Hand bag' Lines" discussing the demerits of his tackling abilities.

There are times I am begging him to shoot tbh. I have a friend who plays at a decent level to Lines and is very similar to him. Composed on the ball and great midfield play, assists etc but drives the ball forward and ALWAYS looks for the pass, it is like he is afraid to shoot. He scores some crackers when he does though, much like Linesy.

Your right.i tried to find the thread but could not. Im sure it would have said positive things about his footballing ability as well as the fact that hes a bit of a "hand bag". Despite that side of his game his overall contribution to our amazing resurrection from non league is undeniable. I believe dc is the perfect manager for chris lines, during his time back at the club on a few occasions hes had spells were he hasnt really done his job of getting on the ball and the manager never hesitated in leaving him out. But each time he returned to the team under dc hes played consistently well for prolonged periods including the run ins to both promotion seasons.

Up there as player of the season already Early days but so far I think in this order Bodin Harrison Lines Gafney. But I do think if Gafney starts more and stays fit he could well win it. His goals to mins ratio this season is incredible. Got to be honest I didn't like lines first time he was here he didn't do anything except watch when we didn't have the ball and didn't do enough when we did have the ball to get away with that. But he's come back a different player and person and he'd be one of the first names on my team sheet.

Another player that split the fan base and there were a number of doubters on his return but imho he has proved himself and gone from strength to strength. As the OP said his running with the ball and level of passing is a delight and as someone who grew up with his father I too am saddened he has missed his sons second coming. I will always remember the Bananarama play-off final, he was clearly struggling late on and was about to be substituted. He stayed on and was part of the victorious penalty shoot out. ONE OF OUR OWN Don't forget Steve Workman mate - Billy Whizz. There was a gifted footballer even if he did favour the sh**. Such a tragic end at such a young age and the first of the Filton Boys sadly lost before their time.
