With all the staff incomings and changes does anyone know what kind of recruitment set up we have now ?. Are we as dependent on Danny Coles’ agency as it seems or are we investing in this area ? It feels like a missing piece of the jigsaw somewhat. What happened to Will Dubey? Think he is won't dubeye now

Dubey is based at the clubs London Office in Mayfair, reportedly costing around 20k per month in rent.
Probably playing Football Manager for a living based on players we have signed from that region...

Funny you say that, I was only last week listening to the Quickly Kevin podcast episode with Miles Jacobson, one of the main men behind Football Manager, and it was actually quite interesting. They apparently have an enormous legion of scouts across the world, generating stats for their game year on year. Its surprisingly accurate all things considered. I'm not advocating professionals playing Football Manager as a means to success of course, but I don't think it's quite the joke it once was. Anyway, pointless tangent over, sorry folks!

The brad pitt film "moneyball" is an easy watch and an insight into how statistics can be used to aid recruiting. Its a fascinating subject, mark warburton resigned as brentford manager because the owners wanted to use stats for recruitment.

I agree with the Post too, a centre back, defensive midfielder and winger would be priorities for me. I'd also like to add a natural goalscorer, but everyone is looking for one of those and it's easier said than done. Ideally for me, the centre back would be able to play left or right side.

Posted from the Post site as its barely readable with all the ads:
With Bristol Rovers' form taking a slump in recent weeks, the thoughts of many fans have turned towards the January transfer window.
Boss Darrell Clarke has promised big changes if Rovers' poor form continues and when asked about recruitment he made it clear he was very keen to add to his squad this Janaury.
While money has been tight at Rovers since Clarke took over, the Gas boss has earned himself the right to spend any available money through his success in the last few seasons.
With January looming, we take a look at Bristol Rovers transfer windows priorities may be.
Experienced centre-back
Rovers' deficiencies this season have mostly been in the back line, as they've shipped 30 goals in 17 league matches and also conceded four goals in their last two cup matches.
There have been some good performances at times, most notably the back to the wall efforts in the League Cup against Championship sides Fulham and Wolves, but in general Rovers have been carved open far too easily.
The expected Rovers central defensive partnership this season never really got going with Tom Lockyer and Ryan Sweeney both winning regular international call-ups.
Sweeney returned to Rovers this season with high expectations but hasn't recaptured last season's form and though Lockyer is undoubtedly a talented player, his recent form has been unsteady.
Rollin Menayese and Tom Broadbent did a great job at Scunthorpe, but Rovers should make an experienced central defender a top priority this Janaury.
Ideally a player with some lower league nous who is unafraid to do the dirty work at the back and can shore up Rovers' leaky defence.
Of course, that's easier said than done in a mid-season window, but it could just be worth getting the cheque book out for an impressive centre-back.
Wingers
While injuries and international call-ups have limited the options for Darrell Clarke when selecting his team, so to has the composition of his squad - particularly in midfield.
Rovers have some very competent midfielders, but none of them are naturals out wide with the pace and ability to beat players on the outside.
This lack of width in midfield has meant Rovers have been forced to play 4-3-3- with a narrow midfield three in matches where they may have been better served using just the one out and out striker with a couple of wingers.
Adding a genuine winger to the squad would at least give Clarke more options for the second half of the season and allow him to rotate his quartet of central midfielders more regularly.
Defensive midfielder
Rovers' defensive problems this season aren't simply down to the defenders. Often the back four have been lacking any sort of protection in front of them as the midfielders remain high up the pitch looking to get forward.
Players such as Liam Sercombe and Ollie Clarke will always look to bomb forward, and with Stuart Sinclair missing matches through injury, Rovers have been lacking a real shield in front of the defence all season.
Against Scunthorpe when Clarke wanted to offer the back four some protection, he had to bring Joe Partington on to sit at the base of midfield.
While Partington is skilled enough to perform the role he is not as natural in the position as he is at right-back.
Rovers missed out on a couple of players in the final week of the summer transfer window, but they now must look to pick up a defensive minded midfielder to help out the defence.
Adding depth
Beyond the obvious problem areas, Rovers simply need to bolster their squad numbers.
The Gas have very few senior players on their books, and with injuries, suspensions and international call-ups all stacking up, it's left Clarke a little short of options.
Some of Rovers' youngsters have come in and done very well this season - with Rollin Menayese the obvious example. But the Gas cannot keep relying on these inexperienced development players to boost the first team.
Picking up a few cheap players or even loan signings would ease the burden on the preferred starting XI and give Clarke a bit more cover in case of further injuries.

Defensive midfielder would be the most important position for me. Help out the back 4 and make us more difficult to break down.

Maybe recruiting a new owner would assist in affording some new players.
