Someone in the Blackthorn end (north terrace) said that Dennis Rofe was at the ground as scouting for Southampton, I said to look at Billy and the reply was Ellis. Can anybody substantiate that info? He gave a good account of himself today and is showing some consistency this season. UTG

I can’t substantiate but DC ain’t helping himself by telling everyone willing to listen that it’s a bit sh** at Rovers right now. I think a few of our players are vulnerable to getting better offers

Ellis deserves a massive pat on the back this season IMO. He gets so much stick - understandably at times tbf (and I've been guilty myself in the past). But he has worked so hard this season and deserves a pat on the back IMO.
Fair play to him.

We will lose our best players all the time we’re lesgue 1 is goes without saying . All league 1 clubs are selling clubs. The thing with Ellis is it’s taken a hell of a lot of work behind the scenes with him to get him to where he is. DC is a fantastic man manager and what scouts see watching us isn’t necessarily what’s they’re going to get if he moves on. It’s taken 3 years bloody hard work from D.C. and Ellis working together to get this out of him. I really hope he stays because not only will it be in our best interests but in Eli’s too.

Most naturally gifted finisher at the club. gaffney better I think Rory’s a better footballer , not only because he’s got a bettter Goals per min ratio this season but he brings more to the team, he gets the likes of Bodin and sercombe more involved and sets up more attacking chances . Ellis has massively improved though he’s been excellent this season and I actually think that we’ve got a much better squad than previous seasons because our players have improved, but the thing we’ve lacked is leaders in losing Mildenhal, Mansel Easter and Mc Crystal. Sercombe is class at this level , most of our players who were ever present in the conference have improved through league 2 and now league 1 and Darrell Clarke , Marcus Stewart take massive credit for that in my eyes they are legends for what they’ve achieved. Hopefully games like today ,coming back from a goal down is helping our squad in creating some new leaders because I firmly believe that has been the only thing missing over these last few months. Captains and leaders are made from experience in the field and if those experiences this season are being channeled the right way from our management then I believe that we can push on and do well this season. It’s a time of transition with a low budget to work with our management have worked absolute wonders and deserve the support that the majority of our fan base are giving them. These are good times to be a Gashead don’t let the miserable sh** tinters put you off Gas

If Southampton sign Ellis it'll be the biggest shock since Liverpool signed Nicky Tanner instead of Gary Penrice
PS I like eliss but he's not a 20 or 20 goal a season player

Definition being say 20 goals a season 3 out of 4 seasons perhaps? Who are they outside of fantastic players like aguerro/kane?

Totally agree. DC deserves massive credit from us and Ellis himself for turning out the player we see today. He has stuck with him through thick and thin when I 'm sure many a manager would have discarded him without a second thought. I readily admit to being one of the many who had become massively frustrated by his perceived lack of effort and attitude problem. Wow , has he turned things around. The qualities that we only saw glimpses of in previous seasons have now become ever present. His work rate yesterday was second to none . Well done Ellis.

Sorry but neither Ellis or Billy are Premier league players.
Billy is by far our standout player and think he would still have to find another gear in the championship.

These are good times to be a Gashead don’t let the miserable sh** tinters put you off Gas I disagree with your statement that most of the "ever present in the Conference have improved". You can't honestly believe that - Lockyer, Brown, O Clarke, Lines & Sinclair - all players that fall into that category are better players now. I don't think so!! One average performance against a poor side yesterday doesn't change the situation we find ourselves in. DC & the supporters have been let down (DC's words) and you think it's a "good time to be a Gashead" ? Not IMO.

I criticised him last year, for effort, but I say he's had a great season so far. But Ellis is prone to blowing hot and cold. If he carries on the way he's going, he could be our player of the season.

We were all totally shocked when “whoosh Nicky tanner” went to Liverpool, for a ridiculously low fee, would be a similar if Ellis went to Southampton, however best of luck to him, after all Rickie made the same move.

How long before Ellis can earn the title of Gas Legend? Does he need the 50 goals? Or 100? Who is he “up there with” now, and who should he aspire to equal in terms of Gas players?

Hope Ellis is under contract next year...if not then better start negotiations soon. The way he is playing he is likely to generate more interest from scouts than BB. Does anyone know when his contract ends

Does anyone know when his contract ends Club policy on contracts now is that they are "undisclosed" Ellis signed a new deal before the season started. Based on last season you would think it was a 1 year deal which probably applies to rory also.
