I can’t answer to who they are/were but there was an American bid in the offering and Geoff Dunford confirmed as much end of story thus I was then surprised with the middle Eastern takeover. funny that! Whoomp there it is!

So the Al Qadis have lumbered the club with £12million of debt. Could somebody explain how if the £12m spent wasn't spent how the club would be better off ? D.C. is already saying the players don't get paid enough ,that the budget is low etc...so how would this be better without that £12m spend ?
If there was/is some investor out there...they obviously don't have any real money as they have not taken over the club already.
The Colony....I think the initial expenditure was probably thought to be acceptable to get the first class facilities, however the owners soon realised that the club didn't have the finances to "run" a top level training base. The fans for years wanted a sustainable club when did that change to demanding a sugar daddy ? and getting something for nothing .When did fans want to become a plastic club and give up its traditional real football identity ? The statements made by SH about building the best facilities at the level needed until circumstances change is the best way to do it. The UWE was a desperate last ditch attempt by the previous board to keep the club alive it was expensive and risky but the only way the old board could keep the club going. The club have £12m debt (?) who on the previous board from the last 50 years was going to stump that money up as a gift to the club ...I await that answer !

No training facility, no stadium and no ambition whatsoever. Are you saying that you expected this when the AlQs took control ? I await that answer.

Quite the argumentative type aren’t you fella? I really don’t see how me not knowing who they were actually has any relevance to any of it . Not meaning to be 'argumentative' at all, but you seem so convinced about this from a conversation that you say you had on a train with someone who was a friend of mine for 40 years and who never mentioned it to me as being fact (although we did discuss the rumors which were being put about.) Something which I find surprising. However, as you will know, Geoff spoke highly of the Al-Qadi family but having read your posts on this forum I can't find one where you have anything good to say about them or Rovers for that matter! having shared a confidential matter with Geoff Dunford on a train I would have thought you might also agree with him about the Al-Qadi family.

No training facility, no stadium and no ambition whatsoever. Are you saying that you expected this when the AlQs took control ? I await that answer. I do not recall a club owned training facility being discussed by anyone...before recently. I don't recall an academy being discussed by anyone...before recently. I do recall new stadium talk for the last 50 years being discussed by everyone and it not happening. I do recall the media going overboard about middle eastern bankers taking over the club and some fans letting that go crazy in their head thinking Rovers would be competing with Man City in the transfer market (!) . I don't recall the new owners saying anything other than they want to build a club the proper way from the bottom up and not just throw money at things. I do remember the mantra Evolution not revolution being repeated over and over (though it seems some still have not realised what this means) I also remember the owners saying that the club could not continue into the future at the current stadium. This has not changed everyone knows the 12,000 mostly standing no facilities Memorial stadium is a relic from the 1980s ....so D.C.s 30 years behind is actually being kind to the club its really 40 years in the past. I heard evolution not revolution....I expected evolution not revolution...I was saddened when the UWE project turned out to not be all it was cracked up to be. I got over that sadness when I realised the decision was done with the clubs best interests at heart.Just like leaving Eastville was a sad day but was done for the right reasons.
I have seen evolution not revolution.

I’m not as privileged as you to have known Geoff personally but I had a conversation with him on the train return from Plymouth and discussed the rumour regarding the American consortium and he said that there was indeed the interest from the Americans. On the subject of my previous posts I stand by them all and to be honest I’m not impressed at all with the AlQs and struggle to see how Geoff Dunford although as you say he spoke highly of them would’ve envisaged to situation we now find ourselves in . Funny also how under Higgs/ Dunford we had a good deal with the UWE but under the spoke of highly clan we don’t .

The issue now is we seem to be caught between two stools, we're not self sufficient like say Exeter, but we haven't got a sugar daddy like the 82'ers or FGR, so what is going to happen with the £12m+ debts if Hani ever says to Wael that the ALQ's have spent enough on Rovers? Plus that £12m hasn't just been spent improving Rovers as £6m+ must have been spent buying the club.

Should the £1m + supposedly paid for The Colony site and ultimately the additional money needed to develop it, sit in the 'debt account' of DS (BRFC) when in fact the debt (investment) should be sitting with Dwane Sports Colony.- a totally separate stand alone trading company. DS (BRFC) will eventually be paying rent to Dwane Sports Colony for the use of it so the investment should not be showing as a debt or investment against DS and from my perspective would not expect it to show in the year end accounts.

Also do you actually believe that we will redevelop the Mem? I do not know whether the Mem will be redeveloped in full or not . A new stadium site may be found . A new deal might be struck with UWE who knows. I would guess...and its a guess....that the East stand and terrace will be replaced with an all seater stand of about 6-8000 capacity. That the north terrace and the bars will be replaced with a 3-4000 seated stand. That a 2-3000 seat stand will be built at the south end of the ground for away fans. Then a 6-8000 stand to replace the west stand/terrace/family terrace. so a final stadium of 17-23,000 capacity. How soon or long this would take I don't know....and even if built in stages the club could still leave for a new built stadium if the opportunity arose. For this to happen though the three sides of the ground..east north and south would need demolition at the same time. With the pitch moving north and east. So even more tents could happen to start with !

Why are people arguing about a sale that didn’t happen? We just put in our best performance of the season. This is not a news story!!!!!! Who’s arguing? Besides that this thread wasn’t about yesterday’s match. It also wasn't about a whether an unknown person was ever interested in us? Also, you are arguing. Hence the posts that followed this.

How much is all that going to cost and how is it going to be financed when we're already losing around £2m a season, just treading water?

Thanks for this post, can't disagree with it, but one thing I'd like you to clarify is why you believe the decision to abandon the UWE deal was in the club's best interests? I obviously am not privvy to the intricacies of the UWE deal, but I cannot fathom how redeveloping the Mem over the next 5/10/15 years could be a preferable option over a ready-to-go stadium with better future infrastructure than the Mem can hope for, in almost every way. Surely if commercial revenue was an issue, the club could have renegotiated at a later date, keeping the club moving forward in the short term?

They will be offering a Facility/Service and are not a Holding Company and will have to trade. Dwane Sports the Holding Company presumably will trade as BRFC and will pay Dwane Sports Colony for use of the Facility, equally DSC will pay its own bills - so effectively they're trading.
