For Gasheads coming from the London area today- don't forget the M4 is closed between junctions 12 and 13 (Theale to Newbury) all weekend, so allow extra time for the lengthy diversion.

Got caught in it myself today, no other real option but to go with it. Took an extra hour or so of frustrating stop/start driving until Newbury.

Four hours each way, but worth it for an excellent all round performance!

Four hours each way, but worth it for an excellent all round performance! Hmm sounds like i was right to take the m40/Oxford ring road/a34/m4 route then! Think I'll get off the m4 at Swindon tomorrow though as the queue going the other way at J13 looked horrendous

It would have been better if they didn't shut the M25 at the junction I was trying to join having avoided the M4 closure!

Hadn't read about the closure and only found out on route. On the trip down it took me two hours to get from Junction 12 to Junction 13 and at times I thought about giving up. Lucky that I had left earlier than usual or would have missed the kick off. On the way back the detour only added another 50 minutes. Appears a bit hit and miss. Closed again next weekend so hope that the supporters club coaches leave enough time to get to Gillingham. Assume that the team will leave the day before and not risk it.

This M4 closure thing is a total joke. It was open both ways all day today (Sunday) as it was the last time I went up & back to the smoke on a Sunday. But both times it was advertised in the media as being closed. On both occasions we took the A4 to avoid - a complete waste of time. Today there were plenty of snowflakes falling in the M4 corridor, but plenty more snowflakes were clearly in the Highways Dept and / or the media. A big DUH.

I always go A14 sh**e, M6 ok, M42 ok, M5 Ok. The M4 is the most dull road in the World, nothing to look at.
