The Bristol Rovers Supporters Club has worked tirelessly to contribute to the wellbeing of Bristol Rovers Football Club since it was formed in 1948 Various selling mechanisms have been engaged over the years, including the operation of a retail shop at 199 Two Mile Hill Road Kingswood. The retail outlet has served supporters and other customers in the Kingswood area by selling season tickets, match tickets and Bristol Rovers FC official merchandise on behalf of the Football Club. In addition the outlet has been used to take new membership applications, membership renewals and coach bookings for official Supporters Club away travel. In these regards the outlet has duplicated operations at the Bristol Rovers Club Shop at The Memorial Stadium. However, the cost of running and maintaining the shop far exceeds the revenue generated. With that in mind, tickets and merchandise sales will no longer be offered at Kingswood beyond the present season. The Football Club is bringing about changes that will facilitate all sales at The Memorial Stadium and online. Therefore the Executive Committee of Bristol Rovers Supporters Club gives notice that the shop operation at Kingswood will close at the end of the present season. The Supporters Club wishes to thank all supporters for their custom over the years and pledges to maintain and improve its services to members at all times and all suggestions as to how we can move forward and improve our services will be gratefully received. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2018/january/supportersclub/

It's a shame but not really surprising.

Maybe, and it is a big ask, but this is the beginning of Rovers dragging themselves into the 21st Century. Even basic stuff like a customer database so they know who's bought what, when - or heaven forbid, a way of buying away tickets online!
The ability to pay by card was a bit of a lurch forward, electronic turnstiles to stop the season ticket fraud that was going on caused by their own incompetence would be nice - and the meltdown on here would be hilarious when it doesn't work on the first game of next season.
Got a bit off topic there, I'm off to put the kettle on.

What becomes of the supporters club now then? They've known for long enough that they were closing 199 so I'd like to think they would offer us members a statement on the future by now.

Disappointed to hear this as I quite oftend pop into to pick up coach travel & cup tickets etc, just hope the club move into the modern era where it possible to order & print tickets online. Always been impressed by the helpfulness of the staff in the shop , it would be nice if they were offered some sort of employment at the club if they so wished.

You can’t go in there that often then.

The closure was on the cards but I was sad to see it too, and not just because the shop is the first choice here for picking up anything Rovers-related. The shop was a giant advertising hoarding for the club on a busy main road and caused a lot of people on this side of town to think of Rovers first when they thought of Bristol football. Their major influences from now on will be whatever the Post and the BBC choose to feed them.

An outdated organisation that has no place in modern football.
Bin the shop and get everything online. Whatever next, half day closing on a Wednesday?
