Having attracted reported interest from both Swindon Town and Yeovil Town this summer we are delighted to announce the signing of defender Jamie Turley
Jamie began his career with Football League side Wycombe Wanderers but without making a senior appearance he moved into the non-league game, linking up with Salisbury City.
Despite his young age, Jamie impressed hugely in non-league football’s top flight with Salisbury but was part of the Whites team that were demoted two divisions over issues arising from their entry into administration. Turley then joined Forest Green Rovers in 2011.
Rated as one of the best defenders outside the Football League, Jamie Turley’s performances in his first season at Forest Green earned him international recognition with call ups in to the England C team.
He raised the bar further in 2012-13, captaining England C to the final of the International Challenge Trophy where they went down narrowly 1-0 to Turkey.
In February 2013 Jamie was named England ‘C’ Player of the Year at the inaugural FA England Awards unfolded at St. George’s Park.
We welcome Jamie and wish him a successful time at the club. In other news we can today announce that fellow defender Matt Fry has left the club.

Disappointed if I'm honest especially as he has been training with us for the last few months and with DCs comments earlier this week. Trotman has far exceeded my expectations though.

Disappointing. But if an offer was on the table, he's chosen them purely for the money as we are a far, far bigger club than them. So if that's he choice, f**k him frankly.
We've looked pretty solid recently. I'd rather us go for another RB rather than a CB and then maybe look to replace Parkes if we still need to strengthen.

Disappointing, but not overly concerned.
Trotman is superb at the moment, Parkesy is improving and shedding the pounds!
If we need cover Mr Dependable Tom Locker can slot in and we have Leadbitter chomping at the bit to get into the RB role. We also have Mark McChrystal on the bench who is amiable cover.
I was actually starting to wonder whether we needed Jamie Turley and DC would have had a problem keeping them all happy. Only concern is that DC this morning said : “No developments on Jamie, we will just see. It’s a case of waiting for results to come back" which seems strange especially as i thought we had a pre-contract agreement with the lad.

Never mind, it's not as if it's an urgent position that we are lacking bodies in, Trotman has been absolutely brilliant imo, coupled with Parkes, and McChrystal, Lockyer I think we've got enough there for now, and it leaves some wages free to sign somebody else if needed.

How odd...
The game in a couple of weeks will be interesting.

In some ways, I can also see where Turley is coming from. If he hasn't been paid since May when his FGR contract expired then it probably gets to a stage where he needs to get something somewhere so him and his family can live. Apparently we wanted him to see another specialist before offering anything.

Think we've signed enough people in the past who spent more time injured then on the pitch, if Clark isn't 100% sure about him then I'm glad we haven't signed him

'kin barsteward.
I wouldn't of minded if DC said he was allowing Turley to get fit with us as a favour to one of his ex-players. But it was specifically for him to sign with us when fit. We've been made to look like right muppets.
I hope he breaks his arm again when carrying his Fat Eastleigh pay packet.

Clarke says it was Turley's decision to sign for Eastleigh.
Apparently we were concerned about results of x ray and were going to ask for a second opinion. I guess Eastleigh have come in with an offer in the meantime and Turley has decided he can't hang about.
I understand Turley's decision.

Strange things is, on the Eastleigh website there no mention of Turleys broken arm!

Makes the comment about Turkey turning down interest because he wanted to play for us, a bit daft now. We really need to be more savvy with such declarations.

I hope it's a case of Clarke turning him down in the end. Otherwise this is very disrespectful.

It sounds as though Eastleigh were ready to commit, whereas we wanted more reassurances regarding his arm. Can't blame Turley for wanting to start earning a wage again, and I'm pleased to see that we are no longer taking chances when signing players.
