No I know we didn't. I had read on another thread somewhere that the game being postponed might have been a blessing for us - and it may turn out that way still if we can recruit well.

Wigan is a strange club imo. Before this century and before the DW Stadium was built their crowds were poor but several years of money ploughed in got them to the PL where they had a few good years and won the cup and were in the League Cup final as well. But when things went wrong the crowds went through the floor. Money now being invested to get them back to the Championship at least. I still reckon we have more potential and given their money could be far bigger and more successful. But it was Dave Whelan and his investment of a new stadium that was the starting point for them. He showed what could be done with crowds of about 4000 at the start but with investment and a new ground. Went there for a cup match the year they won it against Bournemouth. 3rd round about 6000, awful atmosphere, awful match and Wigan got a lucky draw against a team two leagues below. New ground, awful atmosphere. UTG!

New ground, awful atmosphere. UTG! There are a whole host of clubs over the last 20 years who have done the same thing. Reading, Hull, Swansea, Brighton and like you say Wigan. Ok, Brighton and Swansea had played in the top flight before, but they were only brief stays of a couple of years max. The rest of their history's like ours had been in the middle 2 Divisions. Reading, Hull and Wigan were all smaller clubs than us, all used to get lower crowds and again were mostly in the bottom 2 Divisions. I remember going to Boothferry Park in the mid 90's and it was a dump with barely 3,000 there. Wigan used to average even less than that, and their ground had hills of grass as stands. All of those clubs have had new stadiums and have had an infrastructure in place for a number of years. That is what we desperately need.

Bit harsh, before this season he had about a 1 in 3 record at that level. Having scored 24 goals for Bury last season, I think he will prove to be a good signing back in League One.

Before he signed for Bury he was injured for 2 years and hardly played, his injuries have taken their toll. I am sure he will be a good signing for this level, players like that usually find the 3rd tier a doddle, but The Championship is a step too far for him.
