Thought he sounded really good and obviously will have a good influence on the young pro s, would be my choice to take over from D.C. when he moves on. Definitely worth a listen explains how he chooses where they go out on loan.

Always came across well as a player when interviewed after games. If CH became a great development squad manager. Would that mean he would be a good first team manager ? Its possible he could be great...or not.
If he fails as first team manager the club then has to find a great development squad manager AND a first team manager.
If someone does a job really well ,keep them doing that job and reward them for it well.

I'm inclined to think that someone like Marcus Stewart or Chris Hargreaves would be a safer bet if and when DC leaves, understanding as they do the culture and spirit that DC has built up. A new manager from outside could destroy all that in a few weeks.
Having said that, inside appointments normally don't go too well at other clubs.
Just hope DC is given the backing to make him want to stay.

No room on Gaschat for that kind of thing. Fair points actually.

Hope DC stays some years yet but could do a lot worse than Hargreaves if and when the time comes.

I must admit I didn’t know much about Chris Hargteaves but having listened to him on Having a Gas tonight I was very impressed. He is clearly passionate about his role and very knowledgable. I got the impression that the ‘evolution’ is in good hands. He also said he has aspirations to return to first team involvement or management in the future. Whether that’s with us one day who knows but on this showing I think a definite prospect.

The nightmare scenario would be that DC takes his back room staff with him, which is not that unusual, but then Klopp would bring his with him so no harm done. 😉

True story was behind him once in Asda and he had separated 4 yoghourts and took one to the checkout with other items when the women questioned him he said he only wanted one not four!😄

He stands wide -eyed and catches the eye of one of the staff and calls out where are your beans love ? She says - what baked beans ? and he nodded. She said follow me. and off they went. (MAGIC !!!)

Chris Hargreaves is obviously respected within the football community as is a regular summariser on BT Sport matches. Always thought he must get out and about a lot to do this role so obviously takes in a lot of games and sees players. As someone has already said we could do worse if DC left. I also don't think that MS would not make a good manager - his interviews do feel a little uncomfortable, and one wonders how he would take it if overlooked. Obviously if DC were to leave he probably would look to take his trusted management team with him.
