A loss by 2 goals isn't a "thrashing" When its at home to bottom of the league it is. Doesn't matter who's it's against.

Gillingham 4-1 wimbledon 3-1 notts co 4-2 shrewsbury 4-0 portsmouth 3-0 wigan 3-0 peterbro 4-1 They're not exactly recent enough to make any difference to the squad DC changes are they? The manager has changed the way the team play, its nothing to do with squad changes.

Agree with most of your scores Steve. Why for the life of me why we keep humping the ball with a monster defender getting most of them is beyond me... Cross balls from the Wing again all up in the air and cleared quite easily the one cross that was hard and low.... yep we scored from it because the said big bugger was to slow to react Their back 4 mopped up everything that came close to them in the air. All game. Unfortunately, the pitch meant we had no choice but to hoof it up front. If you think those buggers are big wait until you see Wigan No 33.... Only 6 foot 7 and marked the Man city Sergio Agüero out the game

I just think after a series of thrashings dc has changed the teams style to try and stem the flow of goals against. Its worked very well and we look likely to stay out of trouble. Trouble is we have become a bit dull in the process and played a lot more percentage football and players are restricting their forward runs. I agree with what you say. The amount of goals we were shipping was becoming alarming and threatened to send us into the bottom four. I think one or two on here might have briefly mentioned it. It had to be sorted, and DC sorted it. We don't look pretty at times, and seeing ultra cautious safe tactics from DC is not what we've grown used to, but the changes he made have turned the season round from a possible relegation scrap into a slim possibility of the playoffs. And the pitch doesn't help either.

Why we don't use hard low crosses more often is beyond me.

As he changed it much though as yesterday we played 4-4-2, DC's said himself several senior players were all off form together but have now found form again. Locks, Lines & Brown, even Moore recently, are all back to last season's form. The only player really still struggling form form is Gaffney, plus newcomer this season Nichols.

Its been a subtle change in the amount of forward runs players are making from midfield and especially the full backs imo.

Brown I thought a little unlucky to be held at fault for the goal, their player had an age and half to play the ball through before we closed down. Yeah, unfortunately it was Sinclair who got himself in the wrong position in midfield, giving up far too much space and found himself in no-mans land trying to recover. He knew it as well, was beating himself up when they scored.
Note - not saying he's a bad player, just made a mistake on this occasion.

Lockyer 8 MOM Much better defensive performance from him but still lack lustre when he distributes the ball. His reading of the game and his marking were first class and today enough to forget some of the passing and mark him as the best player on our side. It was good to see Lockyer back to his best defensively - there are many players in the Premiership who are similar and simply pass the ball to a colleague for distribution - this would help his game. I think the way Clarke has them playing is to get the ball back to the centre halves for them to knock it forward to the front two.I guess the pitch may be something to do with this at home because yesterday Sinclair was going back all the time. Problem is that Tom does not have the accuracy and Gaffney rarely controls the ball or passes it to a team mate,he is has an annoying habit of trying to chest it off and that never works. Funnily enough I thought Lockyer's passing was pretty good on Saturday.

It's fun that the thread dissolved into a row about semantics rather than how crap Rovers were on Saturday.
It was very frustrating watching endless decent looking crosses being headed away unchallenged, but that's just another game where we've got nothing going forward. The fans around me are probably bored of me saying it too.
In other thread news; I asked for a Sweet Potato Pie and the guy looked at me as if I'd just slapped his nan, so I had to make do with a Chicken, Gammon & Leek one, which was tasty

It never ceases to amaze me the thoughts of some fans.
Complain we are to open and adventurous and get caught on the break a d dont draw any games.
Change things so we arent so open and the compain we arent attacking enough.
Complain manager makes changes that change the game. Part of his job and complain that he should do that from the start.
Rinse and repeat.
