You are picking on him, if you take the trouble to watch the goal back you will see that the player who scored was in fact Tom Lockyers player!! if you are going to blame anybody then you could just as easy blame Gaffney,Harrison and Lee brown all of whom should have done better at preventing the cross coming in and possibly the keeper as well for not coming to collect it.

its easy to blame him for goals but you have to look at the wider picture and also appreciate that at his height (same as Lockyer) they are not going to win every ball in the air. In say Wimbledon for instance the only ball in the air that Craig missed was the last minute. It has been the same in every game he has played-he has won most balls in the air and on the ground- you have to give a bit of slack. the cross for their goal was a simple take for a goal keeper, two steps forward and catch or in any doubt punch the f**ker away

Answer honestly would you have marked him lower than 7.5 if Long had scored that chance in the first half?

Blimey if you all seem happy with Craig im surprised Byron Anthony got so much stick Have you thought you might be the one who is wrong? Did no one else make a mistake yesterday? or was Craig the only one? I notice the improvement in Lockyers game which I conclude is down to experience along side him and a general confidence in defence.

Northampton goal - they shouldn't have got that goal - either Craig has got a poor leap or he's not tall enough - take your pick. Both, I reckon.

It was an absolute howler though for someone as experienced as him as the last line of defence. I know its not just him, I dont think any of our back 4 are good enough to take us to the next level. We have only kept one clean sheet of late against MK Dons and even they missed some sitters

Its too easy to blame the pitch, I thought it wasn't too bad yesterday, and after watching Goal Rush last night it is a lot better than other teams in our division. Bury and Fleetwood looked terrible. We played a lot on the floor which seemed to come off. We also played a lot in the air that rarely comes off, you only have to see how many we score from corners to know that. the only dominant player we have in the air is Broadbent.

lastminutewinner, If he had scored from that mistake then I probably would have marked him down but there is a difference between that mistake and the goal that was scored where it was not even his player that scored it!! I think you will agree that the Lockyer/Craig partnership has tightened the back four up and overall they are playing pretty well. That is no criticism of Broadbent who was doing very well. If there is a problem it is that you have a pair of centre halves who are relatively short and a keeper who doesn't like coming for crosses which means your only real option is to stop many crosses coming in from wide positions where crosses favour the strikers as compared to high crosses from deep positions which favour the defenders. Both Lockyer and Craig win their fair share of high balls thrown up at them.

Thanks for the write up Steve. Pretty much how I saw it.
We could and should have been out of sight by half time really and that's where I feel a top 6 team would have killed them off.

Then we all will know, what you are referring to without searching for it.Thanks in anticipation.

We would normally have too though. I think they drew with Scunthorpe last week so they’re picking up points against the better sides.

Just watched the highlights, what a clanger from Craig to let Long through in the first half. 7.5?? Must be a concern for you that bennett is doing well after you told us all he was useless?

There were a few people who were underwhelmed by the Kyle Bennett signing. I was delighted by what I had seen at Portsmouth and by what the majority of my Pompey friends had said about him. I thought he was a revelation yesterday and am so pleased for us and for the lad. Reckon we got a good one there!

He`s not tall enough, and doesn`t seem to get much height in the air. That doesn`t mean I hate him. I`d just prefer Lockyer and Broadbent.

We're on about Craig still right? I really can't think of the mistakes he's made to warrant that. Shrewsbury, Wombles, Northampton...and that's just the few i've seen. He is no better than we already had here imo. Are you Sweeney's dad!?! Craig has been solid since joining

At the end of the day it's easy to blame the defenders for a lucky goal that came off the back of his head.
Realistically Northampton did nothing all game, they are the single worst side I've seen in years, and if they avoid relegation I will be amazed.
we should have killed the game off at any point, and we didn't. Could have gone in 3/4-0 up at had time, even 2-0 would have done it. We dominated large parts of the game and had nothing to show for it. The lack of decent shots at goal is why we drew, not the defence...

Thats got nothing at all to do with the fact that lockyer was the player out jumped by their striker for the goal on saturday not craig. If craigs not tall enough how come these last 4 years you havnt been on here posting that lockyer isnt tall enough? Lockyer is 5ft 11 and craig 6ft.

I don't hate players who play for Bristol Rovers - think about what you're writing !
