All i have to say is.. Mark my words Broadbent will be the most highest profile player in the team next Season. Think Bennett and Sercs along with him, Craig and Harrison and Slocombe are the basis of a quality side, just need a few more.

The best way to improve your reputation on this forum is not to play. Telford and broadbent have become legends simply by not playing. Meanwhile almost all the players that do play get hammered or are scapegoats. Except for ellis of course who is now loved after being despised by many on here before despite everything he already did for the club. I fear for broadbent and telford if they get a run because they will have flaws and poor games just like every player. They’ve played and had poor games though. I think our fan base can see that they’re good prospects and want to see more of them. I prefer Broadbent to craig but Broadbent has had the odd below average game and I prefer Telford to Nichols but Telford hasn’t been amazing but as a supporter I can clearly see he’s got so much more about him than Nichols.

I think craig did well, today i was watching him act like a captain, deciding when to push the defence up and talking to the other players throughout as well as looking comfortable with both lockyer and broadbent. Like broadbent he also has a good left foot and used the ball well today. At league one level i prefer to see defenders play the ball up to forwards rather than play risky balls into midfield areas but others dont of course.

I’m happy with the signing of Craig because we’ve got him at our club and he’s a leader a captain and a defensive coach in the making and DC obviously likes him or wouldn’t have brought him in. In those terms there probably isn’t a club in league 1 that wouldnt want someone with that kind of winning mentality and potential for coaching. He hasn’t been great but he’s been decent on the pitch but I think what he gives off it is the most important thing. Ever since Mc Crystal left we’ve all been saying that we lack defensive leadership ,I said myself in November that DC needed to bring a defensive coach in because defensively we were terrible and now we’ve got that. One thing that buggered up the timing of it was Broadbent played a blinder for a couple of games before Craig signed and a lot of people then backtracked and said why did we sign Craig ? Footballs not about one game or two to a manager especially a manager who’s been at a club for as long as DC has been and I think it’s a shrewd bit of business bringing him in.

See, this is why I don't get Craig signing to this day. We already had Lockyer and Broadbent as our best talents, Sweeney coming off of a previous nice loan season, Clarke as a solid backup with club experience, Rollin surprisingly good on reserves and on his few first team appearances and Burn as the odd one out that could - if needed - do a job. The far cheaper solution would be to start using Lockyer and Broadbent together more often, instead we signed an aging defender, our 7th (before Burn was let go and Rollin was loaned) who, not to take away from his leadership and experience, is also past his prime and not cheap on wages, and can only play LB if it means being an extra stopper on the side. I hope Craig has been brought in to become the defence coach next season. I'd like Lockyer and Broaders to start games from the off next season, but with 2 new full backs (if Leads isn't kept on) alongside.
There is nothing good or bad I about this, but I still find it unusual that Londoner Craig spends his entire career with London based clubs and in the twilight of his career uproots and brings the family over to carrot crunching land.
Doesn't strike me as someone that will be here long, playing or coaching.

Perhaps like a lot of Londoners he's decided he doesn't want his kids brought up in London, hence the move? If not, then I agree it's an odd one.

Lots of Londoners get out when they get a bit older and want to chill out and start a family. Most of my work building extensions in Bristol is for people his age who have moved from London and are starting a family.

As someone from away I've noticed Tom's not been featured for about 6 weeks now. Is he out of favour or injured?

As someone from away I've noticed Tom's not been featured for about 6 weeks now. Is he out of favour or injured? Given the fact that his old man tweets his dissatisfaction to every official teamsheet announcement at 2pm on a Saturday, I'm inclined to think that TB is currently unhappy with his playing time. Or he could be acting out of his own accord, but it's a bit embarrassing replying to the official twitter all the time, and if he was my dad I've have told him to stop. Either way, wouldn't be shocked to see him go out on loan in January.

I’ve heard from a very reliable source that Tom hasn’t spoken to his dad for a fair few months now because he won’t stop spouting his mouth on social media! And they have never really had a good relationship anyway!

Thanks Guys I've just found a clip on his Dad's Twitter of Tom planting a tree in a Garden of Remembrance on Friday.

I would definitely play Tom Broadbent, alongside either Mr un-droppable Lockinbauer, or I am only here topping up my pension Craig, not fussed which, imo the sooner we play a centre back who can actually out jump an on coming centre forward the better.

Should never have lost his place to Craig in the first place.

Should never have lost his place to Craig in the first place. Agreed with this at the time, I remember one game in particular, think it was Shrewsbury at home and Broadbent looked an absolute beast, he was in the form of his life, then all of a sudden got dropped and not seen hardly at all after there. I'm sure something wasn't right there!! wouldn't want to change it at the moment though as Lockyer and Craig have done well together this season IMO.

Tom Broadbent needs to start every week now. Saw him at Charlton away August 2017, first game, he was great. Since then he has been on the fringe, in and out, and if he doesn't get game time now he will leave. This man has done tours of Afghanistan and nothing frightens him, that's obvious. Was at Northampton last night and he was cruising for 90 mins. The new Steve Elliott... fantastic potential.

In his post match interview he said he had injuries which might account for his absence from the first team. On the basis of GC's philosophy that players can play themselves into the team, i expect TB is likely to get more starts

I think the lockyer/craig partnership has been decent and i dont think coughlan will risk breaking it up at the moment.
