Should have quarters away too. Black and gold or black and green. It is psychological imo.

This is something else that the club, in the past have taken no notice whatsoever from the fans on our kit design. Other clubs asked fans for their thoughts but not the Rovers!! I mailed the club two seasons ago about this topic when a lot of people were putting their designs on here and there were some great ideas. The club said they would get back to me but they never did. Even if it has to be a different sponser when we play away why can't it be on our home shirts if there is no need to change and if we have to change, how many times has it been said, and i agree, keep the quarters just change the colours wether it be black and gold or black and green (which i particularly liked)

The FGR result was a decent result in the white, to be honest.

This is a result of more than chance in my opinion. There is a psychological phenomenon called the "mere-exposure effect" (look it up). The more exposure we have to a stimulus, the more we will tend to like it. In a sporting context, this can lead to more composure and improved performance.
This is the opposite of familiarity breeding contempt. Instead, familiarity breeds contentment. Even though players are new to the club, there is a likelihood that this familiarity (in this case with blue and white quarters) can be acquired quickly.
There is also potential for the away shirt having the opposite effect. Because it is different (whether purple and black, white with stripes, green and black or whatever) it does not have the same attachment as the home shirt. As we have struggled away from home in recent seasons, it is a reminder of this poor form and may seek to put forward a negative association.
Regardless of the shirt colour, one thing you can't change is the familiarity of the home stadium. The same effect goes some way to explaining why home teams tend to win more than away teams. That is one thing you can't change, although you can alleviate the effect with positive visualisation and other techniques.
A win in the away shirt tomorrow, could put much of this to bed, but wherever possible, I would recommend Rovers wear blue and white quarters.

Everyone has the same chance of winning the home or away shirt sponsorship, so why not point out before the draw that the home kit will be used whenever possible?

Ah, f**k. Just turn up in the quarters and tell the other team to play in something that doesn't clash. Or they can play in skins.

I always liked the NATO cross 2000-2001 version which had the same design home and away but the away quarters were cream and dark brown from memory - that design was different and catchy. Trouble is, it was our first season in League 2 so the performances are not recalled fondly.
