Hey guys and guy-esses,
After taking a break following the closure of the OF I have been a lurker to a couple of forums but this one depressed me least and has the same core followers as the OF so thought I would join.
Good to be back and a good solid start to the season now we are 10 games in or so, it looked rough for a while!! Lets hope we can keep the positivity and the run going. Good to see the fans getting behind the team again. This season has a Twerton like feel to it IMO.
Anyway, UTG and onwards and upwards!!
Steve

The Twerton years were before my time. Just wondering what you mean by a Twerton feel? A bit of Dunkirk spirit? That sort of thing?

I was there during the Twerton years and in that time particularly in the late 80s and early 90swe had a really hard working side which didn't have any big name Charlie's and we had support that always got behind the team and really helped them to push on. Most of our players were on the same wage and there was a real unity between the team the fans and the board. I think we're a little way off having that again to be honest but we are heading in the right direction on the pitch for sure.

Ah, right, so good years then. I half-assumed those "homeless" years were a low period.

Ah, right, so good years then. I half-assumed those "homeless" years were a low period. They were low at first we were gutted to lose our home and move out to bath but within a few years we'd built a strong club on a shoe string budget and had risen to the old division 2. Great times.

This season has a Twerton like feel to it The Twerton years were before my time. Just wondering what you mean by a Twerton feel? A bit of Dunkirk spirit? That sort of thing? As has been put really. We had no money, were playing in a poor ground but the players worked hard and worked for each other. Players like Sinclair and Mansell were the norm and the fans just got behind them and often that gave us another 10 points a season. Teams hated coming to Twerton, they just couldn't handle the atmosphere and all that went with it. We aren't there yet but the last month or two feels like there is a ressurection in place. Teams hate coming to the mem, you can sense it. The terraces seem a bit more positive of late too. Not even in our promotion year in 07 did it have that feel. But this year does. The only time I have felt it close since was in 99 when we beat City 2-0 at home in our near miss season.

Are you motivated enough to jump on the ground breaking bus? Welcome aboard... Keep your bus in the station for now please! Too late. It's already out picking up motivated Gasheads who can see that we are the form team, the one that others are watching. By the time we get to the sponsored FFS match at end of November we might well be in a great place. It's fair to say in all likelihood that one bendy bus may not be enough.

I was IrenesToyBoy but hardly ever posted as when I did, I was accused of not being there at a game, being a tinter, or for being far too positive!!
There are some on there that think they are better and bigger than the board and its all so negative, I cant be doing with it.
Inee, I hope things are getting better for you following the loss of your daughter. I remember the whip around we did following her death on the OF. I am glad you are here and I hope time is easing some of the pain.
