To generate an income stream for the Club, Boycie should maybe be looking at ways of getting Bristolians to buy products with an association with BRFC. This might take the form of approaching a local Brewery to produce an ale such as "Pirate Ale" with a percentage of each unit of sale going to the Club. If on the other hand someone who wants to start a mircro Brewery themed around BRFC then some of us might like to invest in such a start up company. Does anyone else have some ideas which may help the Club?

I was enjoying some themed Butcombe bottles only yesterday. They do an Adam Henson's Rare Breed, a Brunel IPA and a Concord themed Blonde, so could be a good way to extend the existing "partnership"

I suggested something similar a few years ago. Wickwar Brewery were making a beer called "Long John Silver" for a local group of people trying to raise funds to bring a statue of Long John Silver to Bristol. www.longjohnsilvertrust.co.uk/merchandise/ljsale.htmI believe the clubs stance on 'guest ales' was along the lines of "we are obliged by our sponsors to solely stock their product" (Bass and Blackthorn when I asked).

Its probably the same with Butcombe and Thatchers but Butcombe might make another beer for us with a Pirate edge. Having a look on their website they make a beer in the winters called "Matthew Pale Ale". Just have an in house thing to attach to the pump and call it something for the club. butcombe.com/beers.shtml

What about grog? "Whether you're keeping watch in the crows' nest or shivering on the concrete at an FA Trophy replay, keep out the cold with Higgs's Grog! Ha-haarrrgh!!!"

I am not thinking about "guest ales" for consumption at the Club bars, although that would be welcome. It must be something much bigger than that i.e. bottled and canned beers on sale in Off licences, Supermarkets and on draught at pubs in and around Bristol and further afield. Whether it's Black Arab Stout, Pirate Ale. Gashead Lager, Stadium Bitter etc, it must be a good quality product at an affordable price. It must be remembered that income has been lost since Bristol Rugby left and I do not know if The Bod are actively trying to pursue new income streams so I would say to Boycie, think big and get this Club out of it's slumbers and get earning. This is achievable, so make those connections.

Baggins although i pmsl ,that was bad real bad you would also need quirky and catchy advertising, my favourite beer ads are from spitfire ale, it went along the line of Spitfire ale, downed all over kent , just like the Luftwaffe. dragonfly, these two from your post cracked i up. Gashead Lager well it is all lagers got a gassy head. Stadium Bitter oh yeah f**k the green party but dont f**k radice as yer knob'll fall off and youll get done fer beastility, bitter hell no
