Just interested to see what everyone’s thoughts on who will shine this year and who will come to the end of the line this season?
To shine For me sercs/Ollie Clarke/Broadbent/leads/Bennett
Struggle Mensah/Sinclair/Smith/Nichols
Really hope we get our moneys worth from Nichols but just can’t see it unless he comes out of the blocks flying...

To shine: Bennett, Sercs, Upson, Lockyer, Broadbent ..... Nichols!
Struggle: Gaffney, Craig, Sinclair, Mensah, Lines
By struggle I obviously mean quality wise, not through lack of effort. Think Lines legs will go, and Craig’s already have.
From what I’ve seen of Mensah I really haven’t been impressed - hope he can turn it around in pre-season.
Gaffney and Sinclair try hard and you can tell they are great characters in the squad, but not L1 quality (Sincs community trust work is arguably worth keeping him for alone).

Last year I would have said Nichols go shine but look what happened there. But I'm sure Linesy has another two or three years in him and I see no sign of Craig's legs having gone... But hey, if pushed: Shine: Lockyer, Bennett, Lines, Harrison. Struggle: hopefully no-one, but it's potentially a big big season in the careers of Ollie Clarke, Gaffney and Leadbitter.

There's no doubting his ability to dictate games with his passing ability. With Craig, I just see experience and know how and not someone who is finished. I'd expect another season from him, maybe in a three with the two Toms. Be boring if we all thought the same wouldn't it?! What would MidlandGas do?

Rather harsh on Lines and Craig who both made excellent contributions to our season - but then you obviously know best!

Think some of the names on here will do well to make it to the start of the season.
Whilst under contract I think 1 or 2 may be moved on to pastures new.

Shine: Upson, sercs, Harrison, Bennet, locks, broadbent
Struggle: Ollie Clarke, Sinclair, Nichols, Mensah
Big season for OC as I can see him in real trouble if he doesn't recapture his form from the second half of last season.
Goes without saying that Nichols needs to start well or he could be out on loan in January

When has Sinclair struggled? He’s not a championship player but he’s a pain in the arse if your playing against him Glad he’s in our team and not playing against us,real pro that does all the donkey work,it’s the others that need to be more consistent

I’ll be surprised to see Gaffers still here come the first game not good enough if we are aiming for top six, got to be ruthless

Far better player than he gets credit for.

I hope they all do well and we win promotion. Players in our squad not good enough for league 1 - none of them. They’ve all made a contribution for us in this division with the only stand out disappointing one really being Nichols so far but I think he’ll get better or get shipped out and DC will find a replacement, he’s never been shy in getting shot of underperformers and bringing in better that’s why we’ve gone from conference to league 1. Obviously some players will have better seasons than others but I’m not interested in guessing who they’ll be. Olly Clarke was our player of the season 16/17 but probably our biggest underperformer 17/18 and so many on here talk like he’s not good enough. That’s not for me.

Personally I think Mensah could well shine, even though I seem to be in the minority there!
Otherwise I think the shiners and strugglers will probably be roughly similar to this season

To be honest I can only see Spain shining this summer. Couldn't give a hoot about anyone else tonight

I'll wager if you spoke to the other players they'd have nothing but praise for him. Every successful team has a worker that does the ugly side well it's not all about when you have possession.

Shine: Sercs, Broadbent, Lines, Upson and Leads
Struggle : Mensah, Nichols, Ollie Clarke , J. Clarke, Lockyer.
I'm 50 - 50 about Bennett - may do well at home but not sure about away. Think this depends on if we strengthen in defence and up front.

Shine: all of ‘em but in particular this will be the year when Locks, Ollie and Ellis really come of age.
