I have a feeling OC will be gone soon I hope not. Neither Upson or Matthews are direct replacements in any case. I’m more worried about Sercombe. I hope we can keep hold of Sercombe, but if anyone wants him surely he will command a fee five times or more than we paid for him? Of course, I'd rather have the player than the money though.

Colkett - Nichols and now Mathews - they all look the same to me - must be getting old!!! Just had a look at the video, I am sure we can tell Matthews from the other two, as he has a very large Adams Apple 😀 Well-spotted ! that's one hell of an apple.

Sounds promising. We'll have to wait and see. Aldershot fans were raving about Mensah in the Conference and he has failed to make an impact so far. Can't really judge these players until we see them in the B&W quarters as they're untested at this level.
Another shorty though, only slightly taller than Bennett. Still, if he's half as god we've good ourselves a player.

No one gets enough games to prove themselves unless your name is Nicholls

I seem to recall Sercombe really wanted to move back to the South West when we signed him so hopefully isn't looking to move on just yet. I suppose it would depend on the wage increase though. Top player who I think would make the step up to the Championship if we were to go up.

I’m starting to get a good feeling about the forthcoming season, and you can’t do much better than signing a young, hungry, talented player who has just had the best season of his career. Sam seems like a smart cookie who knows what he wants and DC must have convinced him that he will get it with us. So, new quality players ✅, new pitch ✅, new seating ✅, refurbished bars + associated conveniences ✅, Rich’s bus MOT ✅, we’re on our way to the Championship (or at least another outing to Wembley).

Finding myself worrying about sercombe because we have so many 1st team central midfield players but it could also be a sign that dc intends to set up the team much as he did last season but with more options.

Are all the negative posters on holiday - or are they in hiding? Perhaps they are wondering where the money is coming from for improvements to the Mem and wages for new players? Always makes me smile that, don't these people realise that even if there is no fee between clubs there is almost always costs involved such as Signing on fees and relocation expenses ! which in some cases can be substantial

Charlie Colkett is a prime example - a young player with, on paper a much stronger pedigree than SM and he struggled to make a real impact at this level. Could he be earmarked for a season or two in the Development squad although it sounded to me that DC had indicated 1st team action to him.

Surely competitive conference football is better than development football.

Thinking about where the new signings fit in, this wouldn't be a half bad team next year:
..................Smith Partington...Lockyer..Broadbent..Craig
............Upson....Lines...........
Sercombe........Matthews......Bennett
...............Harrison..............
I'd still like us to sign a LB, RW and a Striker but with the players that we have at the moment this is what I'd like to see.

No I would still keep him around, he wouldn't get in my starting 11 but he'd be a good sub and over the season he'd definitely have a role to play as injuries and suspension occur. He might be good to bring on for Lines/Upson if we are defending a lead and want to give their midfield a hard time.

Yeah looks ok, but I would be surprised knowing DC if he puts Matthews in striaght away? I always remember the game the beard had a couple of years ago against Swindon I think? Where he played virtually up front and he scared the crap out of them and he forced a few mistkes as they tried to play out from the back too much. It worked a treat that day but horses for courses I suppose?
