Where's Knowall when you need him? Didn't he imply months ago that something was happening before the start of the next season. Unless he means the new shop and bar!!. He must know if this is true or not.

I can only think of one wealthy businessman who, for various reasons, would be interested in pulling off such a deal. Surely not........... Would one of those various reasons include Bristol rugby getting their home back? Now that would get no-one ever talking about BRFC again.

Try gasheads.proboards.com/post/382329/Although it's hardly worth the effort as all it says is: "I wrote this on 7th June 2017 and have not changed my opinion:- "Topper, I am surprised at you. Gasincider clearly said "So I remain positive". In other words he was positive and still remains positive. That means he has not changed his mind. Me, I'm 99.99% confident this will be built." I was referring to UWE." Knowall's smiley face is more intriguing as normally he'd just suggest the rumour was just a load of nonsense?

I think WAQ is very ambitious but not the rest of the family. Unless the UWE can be resurrected I suspect we will be at the mem long term with no significant improvements - by significant I mean new stands not new shop or tarted up bars. We are approaching a year since the collapse of UWE and despite some early mention of mem redevelopment and talking to locals nothing appears to have happened. It's a shame as things have been so positive on the pitch the last few years with DC building a squad we can be proud of.

Well somebody is backing Wael to the tune of £2m each season, I can't see that's his own personal money he's spending each year so his family must be backing him to some degree.

Sorry original post should have been more clear, "a wealthy businessman has done a deal swapping the mem for the uwe land and we will get our new ground ,all will be revealed in the next two weeks". These were the exact words,my stepfather was told yesterday by an employee of brfc . One has to wonder how any business man, wealthy or otherwise, is able to swap the Mem for the UWE land. Did he do this without the AQ's knowledge? I bet they were rather surprised to suddenly learn the stadium had been swapped out for several acres of land a mile away! Ho hum, I suppose it is the close season.

Ambitious in the context of a new ground or meaningful mem redevelopment

It may just be me,but do I understand the rumour to be that someone has. Bought land from the UWE, the same land they didn't want to sell to us, and that this person is going to 'swap' the UWE land for the Mem. Presumably on the premise that we then get the land that the land that UWE don't want to sell us, and then build the stadium they wanted control of, where they then get no control of? So, why don't they just sell us the land and cut out the middle man? Or just agree to whatever our terms were and still hold the freehold of the land. Makes no sense to me.

There may well be a legal reason (covenant) preventing UWE selling the land to anyone other than a UK based company or National? He may buy the Mem for whatever - give the ALQ's a pile of money, and provide a much more acceptable leasing arrangement for the land he owns at the UWE - eg longer lease, peppercorn rent, and no unreasonable demands on BRFC receipts. Who knows!!
